I have not been to LV in years, I have heard from people that have visited LV recently that the place is not the same as it was and it is very expensive. I did not gamble when I was there previously because the place was built on the $ billions that suckers have left behind. Years ago, there were really good deals to be had. Yes, there still are lavish buffets you can go to and have huge choice of dishes, but the all you can eat lobster buffets are $130-150 USD now. Years ago they use to have a $80/ 24hr. buffet pass where you can go back for 3 meals and even drop in for coffee and dessert between meals. FYI - If you go for a buffet only go every second or third day or you may injure yourself. If you are not a gambler there really is not that much to do in LV after 2-3 days. Food is very expensive on the LV strip, expect to pay premium prices even in fast food places. Hotels will low ball you with incredible prices but will charge additional resort fees. If you go to LV, plan ahead and see things that are within walking distance to your hotel and use the monorail or the free LOOP shuttle to get around. IMHO cars rentals are lot a good option for LV unless you are going outside the city. Personally I would not go to LV during the 100-110F. heat, you would be better off in the spring or fall when the heat is down and there are less tourist. ( I just checked, it will hit 39C. today at 4:00 PM. ) Plan a trip to San Francisco or California wine country while you are out there. I hear SF has also changed drastically and you will see a lot of homeless on the street.
