The only thing that's questionable about Fab is, if you have a decent firewall, Fab wants to contact some server just prior to your scanning of your DVD.monkeychan said:DVDFabDecrypter to exctract ANY movie (freeware)
DVD Shrink 3.2 to extract most movies AND to re-compress any movie for SL DVD-R. (also a freeware)
I suggest, try getting rid of all the unneeded special features (just back up the movie only) so you don't have to compress as much.
Again, I have to second that. Any and CloneDVD work great and easy to handle. But they ain't freeware, hence the turn offs for some.newguy27 said:the above two programs will get you far but there a lot of newer disks that require more specialized software. Better stock up with AnyDVD and CloneDVD as well as they can help when others fail.
If you're using them both, what's wrong with them?oldnwrinkled said:...any freeware software to back up movies like Casino Royale, Stranger than Fiction and the Holiday?
Thanks.
I use AnyDVD and Nero.... usually I have AnyDVD running in the background while I boot up Nero and it works like a charm haven't had any problems of yet. The only thing is if you forget to have AnyDVD running in the background then it won't work with certain DVD's using Nero. And I've gotten free copies of AnyDVD, once again my big pool of geek loving has saved me yet again LOLboffo said:I use DVD43 and Nero Ultra7.
Try the AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 combo. Free and Fully function trial ( limited time ) version available at their site.I have never had any problem so far except with content that was corrupted in the first place.skidor said:have had good success burning copywrite protected DVDs
but yesterday tried Casino royal dvd fab nad dvd shrink couldn't handle it.
Treid the the trial version DVD fab Platinum ,you can burn , but it asks you to put a DL DVD in .
Any other programs out there that can compress and burn ?
Just like with skidor...Cobster said:If you're using them both, what's wrong with them?
I also used a trial version of DVDFAB-Platinium to burn a copy of Casino Royale to a single layer DVD. When played, the resulting DVD takes about thirty or so seconds to begin but then goes normally.data1960 said:Backed-up Casino Royale yesterday with Fab. Copied to the hard drive then used Nero recode to copy to a DVD. Make sure you are running the latest Fab (3.0.8.6), as my slightly older version (2.8.something) didn't work. Make sure the DVD is clean, don't know why, but Fab seems sensitive to grunch.
Neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter would decode.
