There probably are "bogus" accounts on Lavalife...that is true.....but I've had success getting lucky.....granted its not always as convenient as calling your favourite SP, but sometimes the fun is in the thrill of the chase.

Upon the urging of a few of my friends - I signed up to Lava last year to get over a bad break-up.
I met a few guys from the site in person - all nice, good-looking guys - just no sparks for me (I wasn't really interested in pursuing anything anyways - I was looking for a distraction/not a boyfriend).
Girls get tons of mail and smiles - it's hard to keep up.
I do have a few close friends who have had serious relationships with lava people. The positive about this site is that you can get to know one another relatively well before an "in-person" meeting.

Depends what you're looking for out of it. If you're looking for immediate gratification, it may not be the best place. But personally I was pretty fortunate. I went into it with the attitude that if nothing else maybe I'll widen my circle of friends. And I did! Some developed into relationships, others didn't, but so what?
