LCD Monitors.

I am contemplating purchasing a 22" widescreen Dell monitor. They are available for $279. At the same time, Westinghouse has a 27" LCD TV monitor on sale for $499. I realize there may be some degradation in quality with the Westinghouse, but I was hoping for a little more informed input from TERB members. I would appreciate any helpful information.

The $$$ difference is not as important as the screen quality.

check the specs ...... in particular you want to look at contrast ratio (higher the better) and response time (lower is better)

Well, I thought I had decided on the Dell, but the ship date appears to be some time in July. I have since noticed the LG226WT at Futureshop which looks ok.

I did a google search and came across this site comparing LCD panels, seems someone has an awful lot of time on their hands and it isn't even an escort review board:

Instead of the Viewsonic I ended up with an Acer monitor from Best Buy.

The clincher was that it comes with a simple, plain language THREE YEAR warranty on all parts and labour!

Most others are only a year and have too many exclusions.

The specs were really good and it seems to work really nice. Clean, crisp and quick.

I'm happy!
