The Liberal government’s delegation to COP30 has sparked outrage with a taxpayer-funded rap performance at its official pavilion

Nov 20, 2025

The Liberal government’s delegation to COP30 has sparked outrage with a taxpayer-funded rap performance at its official pavilion, a $392 million climate financing pledge, and a refusal to answer questions from the media on the ground.

During a “wellness break” in the Canada Pavilion, attendees were presented with a rap-style performance focused on breathwork, mindfulness, and emotional regulation in response to climate grief. Lyrics included, “In through the nose, out through the mouth / Cross off your body, it pays down,” in what organizers described as a mental health–oriented moment amid the climate talks.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Canadian medical professionals used the summit to highlight what they describe as the hidden health costs of fossil fuels. “Those health costs are not on anybody’s budget table. They are treated as uncounted externalized costs, and that is unacceptable,” one doctor said during a panel, warning that emissions-related illness is being ignored by policymakers. Other panelists said a clean energy transition would ease hospital burdens and improve public health outcomes across generations.

The federal government also announced $392 million in new international climate financing at the summit, targeted toward disaster preparedness, food security, and early warning systems in developing countries. The new funding follows years of multibillion-dollar pledges aimed at helping poorer nations adapt to climate change.

Canada’s spending records at past editions of the COP event have also been subjected to intense scrutiny. The COP28 delegation in Dubai cost nearly $3 million, including $1.3 million for a Canada Pavilion that featured another rap song, this time about “climate disinformation.” That trip also included hotel stays costing up to $816 per night, as well as almost $300,000 in meals and travel expenses.

Adding to the criticism, current Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin and former minister Steven Guilbeault both declined to answer questions from True North while on the ground in Belém for COP30.

AI Overview

"CO2, the gas of life" is a phrase that refers to carbon dioxide's essential role in sustaining life through photosynthesis, a process that allows plants to convert sunlight, water, and CO2 into energy and oxygen. This phrase acknowledges the crucial role of CO2 in maintaining Earth's habitability by supporting plant life and creating the oxygen that animals need to breathe.

AI Overview

The average person exhales about 1 kg (2.3 pounds) of carbon dioxide (CO2) per day

that was not a doctor, that was an activist who seeks to intentionally deceive

Iggy Pop played the role of Mother Nature ( portrayed as a cynical alcoholic who's fed up with the abuse of mankind) on a Danish podcast. It's called expanding your audience with a new and different take.

Is this like arguing you can't drown because water is the liquid of life?

Canadian Liberals live like royalty as people live on the streets because of their policies.

Wrong again, Mr Genius........there are different ways to communicate facts. Some ways may gain the attention of certain people who might not otherwise bother listening.
and there in lies one of the fundamental problems with the loonie left

they think they can spin facts to fit a narrative and intentionally mislead the public
often by omitting very relevant and important information

ie ''the hottest temperature ever recoded in Antarctica''
"Antarctica Melts Under Its Hottest Days on Record'

meanwhile
  • the locations (Esperanza research station) history dates back to only 1948
  • Esperanza is 1,800 miles from the south pole at the very tip of the trinity peninsula
  • for comparison Edmonton is 1,500 miles from the north pole
  • Antarctica temperatures are below freezing 99% of the time

AI Overview

Virtually
100% of Antarctica's temperatures are below freezing on average throughout the year across the vast majority of the continent's landmass and ice sheets. The average annual temperature ranges from about -10°C (14°F) on the coast to -60°C (-76°F) at the highest parts of the interior.
but the headlines were 'Some ways may gain the attention of certain people who might not otherwise bother listening.'

Your ignorance is impressive.

Yes, Antarctica is below freezing most of the time, but that is not the worry.
The worry is that its surrounded by glaciers that dip into the oceans and when they melt the will raise global sea levels.
Between glaciers on Greenland, which are also melting, and Antarctica, glacial melt is enough to drastically raise ocean levels.

One glacier alone, Thwaites, has enough ice to raise sea levels 2 feet.

What part of
Antarctica temperatures are below freezing 99% of the time
did you not understand ?

you do understand the following fact ?

ice requires sustained temperatures above freezing to melt

the ice in Antarctica is several miles thick
the ice will still be there long after the climate con has completely failed and died out

You are very special.
You really don't understand that glaciers in Antarctica are in contact or in the oceans around them and as the water warms they melt?

And yet you still think you are smart enough to be in this conversation.

So you agree that too much CO2 can kill
submariners can function up to 5000 parts per million
so above that level yes , one might be deprived of oxygen and could die

a far cry from the current 420 ppm atmospheric level

and can totally screw over the climate.
not at all , co2, is not the control knob for climate

you do understand that water from the oceans falls on Antarctica as snow and accumulates?
Or do you just conveniently ignore that fact ?

water has been in contact with the glaciers in Antarctica for hundreds of millions of years and will still be in contact with the glaciers in Antarctica long after the climate con has completely failed and died out

Antarctica holds about30 million cubic kilometers (7.2million cubic miles)of ice, which represents approximately 90 % of the world's total ice and about 70 % of the planet's freshwater. This vast ice sheet covers an area of almost 14million square kilometers (5.4million square miles)
that is not going to melt any time soon

your scaremonger is pathetic and given your motivations for political / economic revolution, your scaremonger is down right evil

That puts you as a flat earther, someone who won't accept that the Greenhouse Theory is real.
Only about 5% of the population is as special as you.

Even Exxon and Shell believe in this 200 year old knowledge.
You need to be a real kook to believe you are right on this one.
