Lost Phone - It's astounding!!!!!!

I am amazed at how many SP's "lose" their phones so frequently - I have had a mobile phone for over 30 years and never lost one. Granted at first they were bolted to my car but as soon as the briefcase phone appeared on the scene I had one - and kept updating until they got down to the miniscule size it is today.
Ladies - these phones are your life line - your office - your friend. How can you lose them???????

During those 30 years did you ever have to do out-calls a few times a day, take off all your clothes, perform for an hour or more, put back on all your clothes and then go off to your next call? Plus the damn things are smaller and smaller all the time.

You forgot to say, put back on all your clothes and pick up the phone and then go off to your next call.

Yup, I can see how the phone got lost. :p

Oh Please - this is no justification - the damn phone should be in your purse - with your money - keys etc - and I have never met and outcall girl that lets her purse out of her sight.

And as far as me - In the early years of the smaller phones ie. after the motorola brick - I did as many as 8 calls in a day - in different offices, factories and buildings -

I was trying to be cheritable but it didn't work so................

Let's call a spade a spade here -- many lost phones = I didn't pay the bill

LOL, Dr Rogers is certainly dating himself with his post....briefcase phones...damn.....

BTW: I agree, I've had cellphones since there were cellphones and never lost one. This is including the thousands of hours spent on my boat. Now I've had passengers lose their's over the side (usually the the "one bounce oh shit" that let's me know what happened lol). It is really funny when you're at the dock and the damn thing rings underwater....

I don't know about indies but many agency sp's keep them in their purse in order to answer the "time is up" call and keep the purse within earshot. Now I'm wondering, why WOULD an indie keep her phone out and handy during a call? IMO if it is to answer a call that would be the RUDEST thing to do during a session....

A dancer I know dropped hers in the toilet at a park while we were there with our families. I have not lost one in 20 years, I had a guy who worked for me lost three in six months, I should have fired him for that, it only got worse.

I lost a phone some years ago I was running up the road, it was cold, the phone jumped out of my fur coat pocket, big fucking deal, I called my cell service provider and had a next one delivered the next day, cost me a whole $35, cheaper than loosing my keys. Another time the cops took my cell just because they felt like it. I wasn't going to make a stink over it. Shit happens when you are in this business or any other, it makes no difference people loose things, and thats all she wrote.

I can gladly say I have never lost a cell phone, and I was an SP.

I work for a cellular provider during the day, and I can't tell you how many times I hear about lost phones. Infact I deal with it at least 5 or 6 times a day. People leave them in cabs, and most commonly drop them in toilets!! Don't put your cell phone in your shirt pocket, as many a times it does drop out and fall where you least expect it (in a toilet)! Plus depending on what type of plan you have, it could very well cost you a fair amount of money.

I left one in my jeans pocket once when I threw said jeans in the washing machine. Didn't notice till I took my load out of the Dryer. !

Needless to say, I don't recommend this cleaning practice.

Damn thing was toast afterwards surprise surprise

So, how many of the sp's that you know of have lost their cell phones? Is it enough to be "amazed at? And, what is "frequently"? 1/week, month, year?

I'm asking because I don't know if you're just making a judgement because of announcements made out here, or if you have more knowledge from experiences other than from TERB.

In the last 10 years I have known a few girls - of those I would say that 8-10 have expereinced a temporary feined phone loss. Now understand - I don't know these girls as you do - in many cases I befriend them - and I was trying to be charitable - but you want the truth - you got the truth - they don't pay their fcuking bills!!!!!!!! A lost phone usually means "I haven't paid my bill" - so - amazingly when Doc makes a housecall to Rogers, or Bell or Fido or Clearnet and hands over a brownie - so they can keep working - the lost phone is amazingly found. Now you have it.

Only 1 or 2 girls that I have known have actually lost their phones - ususally in their home or car and at least once a month but they find them. And you know what - their clients don't know - they keep checking their voice mail and it is seamless to the client. Voicemail doesn't work on a suspended account.

Well, I may be an exception then because I have never "lost" my phone in both senses while I was in the business. I used my time in the business to live comfortably, but I knew the money would not last forever. So each month I put my rent and bill money into a savings account, then the rest was left for "life". I got my education and some other certifications behind me so leaving the business was something I could do. Eventually I did get fed up with the business and that is why I left. Now oddly enough I work for a cell phone company. I have never had my phone cut off nor have a misplaced my phone. Trust me when I say this, cell phone companies will rip you left and right. Late payments really add up and don't really look good on credit reports.

BTW Clearnet no longer exists, it is now Telus.
