There are step-by-step instructions to transfer your music from the ibm to the mac. open mac help and search for "transferring music from a windows computer"

I definately wanna get an Apple Mac book pro. The boot camp program alone is worth it. The boot camp program allows a user to install a windows operating system like Windowx XP or Vista. Also dual booting between mac and windows. This is someting apple should have done years ago it allows the company to gain market share.

Not sure about the MSN problem. You'll have to elaborate. As for the iTunes transfer, I have done this many times across platforms (PC->Mac and vice versa). The trickiest bit may be getting access to the music files on your old PC. If you've figured out how to connect your Mac to your PC (either directly or via your local network) or you've transferred your music files to an intermediate drive (USB drive or external hard drive), then you've done the hard work. The easy part is firing up iTunes on your Mac and selecting "Add to Library..." from the "File" menu. Then you just navigate to the location of your PC music files and let iTunes copy them in (they will come complete with album covers and any other customization you might have done to the originals).

Oh yea, I think you have to select "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" in Preferences/Advanced/General.

Hope this gets you started.

Learn Linux!

With linux you can do all of the above and it's ALL FREE!
I thought about going to Mac then figured if I have to learn a new OS, Mac, why not learn linux first, since it's free. Went with linux and can do everything there I did on windows.
It a little while I will be able to dump BOTH Windows & Mac and go with free Linux.

I took a Linux course last year and it was like learning another language but trying to learn it in 20 hours. Least to say it is still a foreign language to me. Still don't understand Linux. Good luck to you!!!!

I started out with Fedora then went to Ubuntu because Dell picked it.
I found them both easy to learn, like picking up Mac and even Vista.
Have heard that other linux distros are more difficult but those two suit me fine.

Its not a huge learning curve to understand Mac OS. Its very easy .. straight outta the box and play.
I know a few people who switched and never needed to look at a manual to start.

Woodpeckr...not again. Look, Linux is not that easy to learn and I've been using computers since the mid-80s. I've Apple's ProDOS through to OS X, used OS/2, Dos, Windows 3.0 to XP and Ubuntu.

A glance through any of the Mac and Ubuntu forums will show you how much more difficult it is with Ubuntu. Arcane commands such as sudo, things like packages and pipe symbols, etc. You don't have any of that with Mac OS X unless you really want to start fooling around with its Unix underpinnings.

Brianna, feel free to ask any questions out here and we will try our best to answer you. Congrats on getting a great machine...hoping to get one too soon. :)

Thank you very much I seem to be getting along pretty good for one days use. I just found all the easy stuff hard (LOL) but am managing. As for Ubuntu, like I said, some may find it easy I did not. Javascript I found easier. Ubuntu with its bash commands and installation of stuff like php and grep commands I could not grasp the concept. Like some peoples junk is other peoples treasure, Mac vs. microsoft vs. Linux, it is all in the eye of the user!!!

Guess it depends on the manual you use. To really learn what any OS will do, you need a good manual for guide. Rickford Grant, writes an excellent manual for linux. He's an easy read and explains concepts well, far better than the MS and probably Mac manuals. Using his book I found linux easy. Sure the command terminal is daunting but Rickford Grant, walks you right though it. Besides you don't really use it that much anyways, at least I haven't had to. All Ubuntu updates, even plugins are automatic now, just like Vista and Mac. So IMHO, don't find linux to be difficult at all.

A majority of people only use computers for internet, word processing and a bit of multimedia (burning, movies etc.).
With a Mac, its pretty self-explanatory, its very intuitive, easy and forgiving.
