Does anyone else think the MADD ads that show your vision getting blurry after 2 drinks and you crashing after 4 are a little stupid . I don't know about others but my vision doesn't blur after 2 drinks. I don't need lectures about it being not wise to drive impaired because I have no sympathy for those that do but I would like to see a more realistic ad.

The ad is obviously effective.

You remember it.

That's the whole point.

Absolutely....the contents of the add may be questionable (ie. blurry vision) but the main theme is the message....drunk driving is wrong, plain and simple. Too many people suffer as a result of this madness...I for one have hoisted a few, but knowing that will leave the car behind and either TTC or Taxi...

Well I do remember it but not for the message . For an ad to be effective I think it has to portray the truth . If the ad is based on a false premise i.e. 2 drinks makes your vision blur then I think some people might disregard it.

It's not like they can include all the discussion points in a 15 second spot.

The message isn't '2 drinks makes your vision blur' anymore than it's '5 drinks makes you hit a bus.'

The message is to THINK- and not drink and drive! It gets across.

Yah... when you put it that way, I think you have a point.

I remember when I was a kid (35yrs ago) in my N. Ont town word was (although never seen ads on TV) that pot would make you jump off bridges and stuff like that. Really stupid stuff. This is not to that extreme but it's in same vien.
