I'm not sure how many clients have been following the devastating news of Maggie's Toronto, for those who are not aware late in the evening on Friday, September 8th a fire was set outside of the community space in downtown toronto causing damages estimated to be surpassing the 500K range. On top of that the board of directors unexpectedly announced they would be stepping down a couple days ago (https://toronto.citynews.ca/video/2...orontos-sex-workers-loses-board-of-directors/) , and the remaining staff (who are also grieving) are working hard to rebuild as well as pivot crucial programs and supports they offer to temporary spaces.
If you have some extra funds to spare they are in great need of donations. Maggie's is a registered charity so tax receipts are available. If you want your donation to be a double hitter- Tryst offers a donation matching program so you can snowball your donation to Maggies into helping to cover the costs of advertising for your favourite provider, assuming they use that platform. I already made my donation, and did my own TLC matching for this month (they limit it to 100 per person per month), so I can't directly benefit from this program until October- so if you were thinking of doing it for me, I appreciate the thought- but treat someone else!
