DENVER—The U.S. Postal Service is defending a mail carrier who stepped around a man who collapsed and died near his front door.

Dale Porch was dropped off at home last week after work but never made it inside. Family members say hours later, a mail carrier walked by the body to deliver the mail but did nothing to help and didn't report it.

The family says the mail carrier told them he thought the body was a mannequin, a decoration left over from Halloween.

KMGH-TV reports the carrier has been temporarily taken off the route. A Postal Service spokesman called it an unfortunate situation that probably would not have happened any other time of the year.

An autopsy report is pending.

If that was MY mail carrier, he would have undoubtedly dumped all his letters in the nearest mailbox regardless of address and headed off early to grab a beer with the boys. In fact, I suspect that's exactly what my mail carrier does EVERY day.

I'm sure he didn't know it was a dead body..it is Halloween time..if I was a mailman I be looking mostly at the addresses and making sure each letter and package gets to the right address and just glance where I am walking.

We must be neighbors then. I just had to go deliver 3 letters wrongly put in my mailbox today as I seem to get mail for every house on my street.

everybody likes to take shots at the mail carriers but perhaps you should educate yourself on the bungled "postal transformation" that management is currently ramming through before shitting on your mailman.

Are you talking about a postal transformation at the USPS or Canada Post?

Err, you mean that they are now hiring mail carriers who cannot read and for whom street addresses are mere gibberish?!:frown:

no...but canada post are making them work 11 hour shifts ending in the dark with a flashlight on their heads, while balancing and drawing from 2 bundles of mail on the left hand and forearm.....this is both dangerous and prone to more errors

If it is in fact going on, and is "dangerous", what is their union doing about it? They do have the right to refuse dangerous work.

they are taking them to court...with Harper's anti-union back to work legislation it is hard to do much else.

It is not well known, but mailmen are a group that is part of the walking dead. If they are not already when they become mailmen, then they slowly morph into soulless creatures that wander the surface of the earth. They are generally angry at the world and have a sense of entitlement, they believe that they should get more and do less.
In this case, the mailman may have mistaken the dead man for one of his own kind and though that the guy was merely taking a nap.

In which case, CC, he may have simply thought the dead (or napping) man was simply engaged in some bizarre kind of "work to rule" union campaign.

I see that you actually admit that it was funny, but when you say it was coming from me it no longer was funny.
Do I smell mailman? I would like to help you live and laugh again. It has been known to happen that the living dead has come back to the world of light and the living. However, I can not help you with your dead and decaying flesh.

what kind of elitist classism are you indulging in here? What other groups would you classify as subhuman? Careful now...not all your targets are likely as politically correct as the cheap shot at posties. How about airport limo cab drivers? There must be others you'd like to shit on......
