It sounds like it would be a good career choice, until you realize they only ever see the ones with problems....

With so many career options why do some men choose to become gynos?
You ask on Terb?

Let’s see here are three: There is far more money in a specialty than in general practice, they are interested in the diseases associated with the specialty, there is a shortage of practitioners in the geographic area where they would like to practice.

p.s. by I've usually seen it abbreviated as GYN

Specialist also have the luxury of bankers hours and do not have to take overnight shifts or week end shifts.

I thought the same thing when I went to get my vasectomy .... why would someone want to cut open ball sacks for a living...

But like others have said, there definite advantages of being in a specialty field. In fact, with OHIP covering the procedure, I am sure it is a very profitable field.

Probably for the same reasons why any physician (male or female) chooses to specialize in a specific field.

(1) They are interested in diseases or conditions related to their specialty.

(2) There is money to be made in specializing versus being in general practice.

(3) There is a shortage of physicians in a given specialty where they wish to practice, so strong employment prospects.

Just for the record... Unless things have changed there is a shortage of them in Ontario, with a risk of the shortage becoming worse in the near future.

Truthfully the really good ones are so busy it is like a cattle call in their office at times. *sigh*

A gyno is bad enough but why a proctologist?

I suppose if you wanted to deal with sick assholes all day you could become a TERB Mod but an actual proctologist?

And they are all so gloomy too. I guess they have the end in sight?
Yeah, but if you are in NEED of a proctologist, you will get down on your hands and knees and kiss his feet and thank Christ almighty that the guy became a proctologist.

Can't imagine not being able to shit as required.
