He has to be throwing this game in this game he has to have 10 give aways intentional off sides and passing to hal Gill to take a shot from the point, is he on the take? Does the mob have something on him? He has never been this bad.

he did set up the winning goal, btw.

if you haven't seen this happen to an elite player in nhl hockey before, it must be your first season watching.

it's hard to watch how bad he's struggling. wow!

though i've seen this happen to a long list of elite players:

Patrick Marleau this playoffs
Jarome Iginla in 2007
Pavel Datsyuk and Joe Thornton in 2006, actually, this is the first post season that Pavel actually produced significantly. the same goes for Zetterberg.

A better question is whether Malkin is injured?

Injured or just out of gas... in the Philly series he got hit every time he got near the puck...it takes it's toll especially on a young player who's never played this many games in a season before...

Yeah first year watching hockey, well I guess you were born this morning!!! You don't think gambling has never entered the world of pro sports? ever hear of Tim Donaghy, Pete Rose, Rick Tocchet, we are adults here lets not be too naive.... I really liked his break away last night when he dropped it back to Datsyuk.... I remember something like 20 years ago Americans believed Hockey was as fixed as wrestling, with all the money that is involved I wonder how corrupt sports and Hockey really are, I think it would be shocking....

My cousin was just saying this very same thing. Lol.

On the other hand, he did come on at the end. Perhaps his "take" was only for regulation play. (just kidding) I think he's hurt or very tired. He was playing extra long shifts for a while. It has to take its toll.

Whereever I am now
Geez I thought Bettman was telling the Refs to ensure a game 6 ....

so Malkin is throwing it the Wings way, and the Refs are throwing it the Pens way..
so I guess it equals out :)

All I can say is give him a break, he's 21 fricken years old. Yes, he's blowing it worse than Bryan McCabe but damn, it's the stanley cup finals and he's still a child.....

Now I know the psychology behind it but with so much on the line, I'd bench him until he gets his head on straight. At this stage you can't afford to lose the series because of one player being stupid.

Malkin is definitely injured. Looks to be his shoulder (hunched over while skating) his play seriously regressed after that Mike Richards hit on him in the Flyers series...

on another note.

HOCKEY is one of the most difficult games to fix... you have too many canadians on the ice for Pitt to even think about throwing a game.... the Stanley cup is about pride/sacrifice/will at this point. You need to turn a team to fix a FINALS game. thers 19 guys on a team. good luck with that.

Well, I was thinking that the youth/experience scenario would really come into play if any game went into OT and sure enough, the longer last night's game went on, the Pens started getting better IMO. Up until then Detroit was walking all over them.....

Last night's 3 OT periods may be a big factor in the remaining series. I don't care how good shape you're in, a body just doesn't recover as quickly as you get older.

I think Cherry said it during one of the wing's previous series. The team they were playing were wiped out after a couple of long games in their previous series and just couldn't keep up to Detroit. I think this may be a factor in this series too. I can see Pitts tying up the series now......

haven't watched Malkin skate much, eh? that's how he skates.

i agree in speculating he is injured, though. i was thinking hidden concussion. but, then again, they say he lost 23 lbs during the flyer series when he got a bad bout with the flu.

With all these days off, I'm surprised anyone tires....but they do. :)

I am thinking injury to Malkin as well....ribs.

Although, the way he is playing, you would think the Russian Mafia is betting on the Wings, and is holding some of his relatives hostage back in Mother Russia.

i've seen malkin since he was a 14 year old.... hes bringin his arms closer to his chest when hes skating....he looks downright awful if you look at him closely....he could be fighting against strained ribs even...that hit he took from richards was viscious he was sent 3-5ft. backwards into the boards.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15MIy6jKeVE

after that hit...he hasnt been the same.

yeah, i agree he hasn't been the same as that hit. but, if you've been watching Malkin since he was a little boy, you know what I mean by how he has a 'stooped over' skating stride.

we can only speculate. he let off a few nice slapshots this series, however. something you don't see guys with rib or shoulder injuries do.
