More of a math geek video related to voting than a true politics topic but I found it interesting. Thankfully as an Engineer, adequate approximations are more important than detailed mathematical proofs.

I do want to think more about the approval based voting system he discusses at the end of the vid. unlike the current political climate, it seems to promote productive compromise over strict partisanship.

Oh look!
A nice video discussing many of the issues I talk about all the time concerning voting system problems!

The problems with IRV!
Condorcet vs Borda!
Arrow's Impossibility Theorem!

This is a great find!
Thanks!

I am more a fan of range voting (they call it rated in the video) than approval these days (unless I'm talking about a much smaller election, when I might be willing to go for weirder cases that are more complicated to count).

That said, approval is just a specialized case of range voting. You get a LOT of the benefits just with that and it is probably the easiest to implement as a shift over from FPTP.
I proposed it for a long time as the best replacement voting system for what we have as the best compromise between ease of use and best results.

(Now, there are other issues to think about concerning proportional representation and multi-member districts and other issues where the voting system might interact in other interesting ways.)

Based on what I've been reading on this board Donald
Trump by winning in November will prove Democracy to
be a failure without using his knowledge in mathematics.

If you want to look into it more, this is a decent place to start.

They are advocates, so keep that in mind, but there is a lot of good basic info there.
