I see a bunch of 4 GB and 8 GB memory cards out there for boxing day. Approximately how many piks can I fit on a 1 GB card? I'm not talking fancy-dancy piks, just run of the mill average ones. I don't use my camera much but if I'm going to upgrade, now's the time.

My camera is a Kodak M1063 (10.3 MP, 3x optical zoom, 2.7" LCD)

You should be able to get 200 outdoor STILL pics at 10 MP. However, if you shoot video, that really eats up memory space.

When i take a photograph the picture size ranges from 2 - 4.5 mb.

Do the math ( 800 - 1000 on 4 gb and double that for 8) (check my math!) but be sure that your camera can use a card of those sizes.

Have several cameras which can only use 512mb and nothing larger.

I prefer to have a dozen 1gb cards so that i can have several reliable places to record pics. These cards do die and i never leave pics on the cards for very long or rely on a single card when taking pics.

Good Luck Hope this helps. Have a good xmas

Rocks right....video is a pig on memory.

I'm going to find out since I purchased it. My camera is SDHC and so is the card so hopefully it will work.

Check the camera manual (usually near the back). My camera can only handle up to 8 SDHC which I thought is pretty good. The higher memory cards are really meant for flash camcorders.

The manual says it supports SDHC and doesn't list any limit. Plus, the Kodak site specifies that the Kodak 16GB cards work with the camera.
