The 'where to dine' post by another Terb member made me think of great meals in Toronto restaurants no longer around. Did any of you have a favourite spot that isn't around anymore?

For me it was The Boston Club near Front & Yonge (it was there circa 1998-2000). I had the best New Year's Eve dinner there - it was a set menu Lobster dinner with 5 courses, each one having lobster in it in some way...that is up there on my list of 'best restaurant meals of my life'.

I was very sorry to see it go.

Biff's Bistro currently occupies the location Boston Club used to have. I like Biff's too, and eat there often, but I was sorry to see Boston Club fold up. Too bad Biff's and Boston Club couldn't have both been in that block.

I would have to say Boston Market, it was a nice no-frills eatery with some really good food. There still operate in the states, but the Canadian franchises didn't work out

Ah yes, I remember fondly a place called La Chaumiere.. this dates from back in the late sixties when I was working in a hotel and had occasion to send many people there.. Great food.

Red House over yonder.
Best Restaurant? - late hours category.

Meyers Deli in Yorkville and the old Lichee Garden when it was just north of city hall before it went to the mall food court. Meyer's had late hours with music and LG had that big white grand piano and also late hours on the weekend. Do any places have food and music that are open late on the weekends? I have enjoyed some good music and good food at Reservoir lately but that is more of a club/bistro.

Also, any suggestions for Montreal in this category?

In the "Magnificent Garbage Burger" genre, Full Bite Burger in Mississauga was a classic, but I have replaced that with Apache Burger. They make a real burger and shake.

In the "Romantic let me talk some trash in your ear and show you the Big View category", Scaramouche. I read somewhere they were going to close due to their building being turned into yet another condo high rise, but I am not sure about this.

Yes, you are showing your age. I join in with Fenton's -- ah, the fireplace in the front room kept lots of ladies' backsides warm just before the desert. Three Small Rooms -- nice and intimate.

Paul's Deep Sea Shantung on Dundas (before he moved into that massive three-storey place on Spadina and ruined himself).

Ho Yuen Ting, also in Chinatown, forget the street name.

Damn, they had some good Szechuan food...

Wow, bringing back the memories. Absolutely love Brothers. Ate there 3 times a week for 10 years!!!. Killer Deli!

The place north of the Zanz? Lindy's I think. Small booths with a Jukebox on each table? Best cheap steaks in the city. You could get a 10 oz Filet for like $12. Even served on a wooden platter. What ever happened to it?

Anyone remember a small rib joint on College, a few doors west of Yonge (north side). Loved their ribs.
