A lot of things can happen in a trial -witness may have "flawed" recollections, some witnesses might get lost on their way to the courthouse, a guy like Vick can OJ his way out of this with a stupid jury and with enough money, millions can be spent by both ends on appeals. Plus Vick probably still thinks he has a chance at playing in the NFL again so he wants to do his time as quick as possible.
But...
This way -no trial, all prelims and grand jury stuff and he admits to his guilt. Everybody is happy. The prosecutors flex their muscle by saying -we have no problem going after a celebrity, he's guilty as shit, by his own plea, they save some taxpayers dollars, the owners of the Falcons can get some of their coin back at a later date. Everybody walks away from Vick and he becomes a footnote.
Goddell will likely enforce the lifetime ban under the personal conduct policy the NFL has on it's players against gambling (any form of gambling falls under this rule). There's a first time for everything -and this is as an appropriate time as any.
One full season away from competitive football is hard -sitting in a cell is worse. Even that kid (RB from Ohio???) who thought he could sue his way into the NFL found out, as young as he was; you can't stay away from football that long and maintain a competitive edge.
Worse of all, he looks like a smug prick on camera. Even Jamal Lewis -when he was convicted and spent 4 months in jail looked like he was genuienly sorry for his actions and apologized to his team. I'd like to see if this entitled smug asshole would do that -apologize to his team or even the fans. He might try it to see if he can brown nose his way back into the commish's good books and maybe the judge, but; we'll see. Maybe he'll pull a Kobe press conference.
