Not a good week for him. A plea bargain seems to be his only choice, but considering that went nowhere this past week, I wonder if he's asking for too much or if the prosecutors think more will come out. Minimum he goes away for one year, with this years season pratically out for him, 2009 may be the earliest he returns. So what do you guys think? Should he even be allowed to come back or banned from the league?

Vick is done.
Even in recent history good players are certainly replaceable in the NFL xxxxxRay, PacMan and Chmura come to mind). Vick is an owners' and sponsors nightmare. I just hope the Falcons get some of that money back from the signing bonus.

Micheal Vick is too stupid to see a good thing when he has it. Why does he have to associate himself with something so stupid. In the next year or two he will be a faded memory. There are too many QBs coming out of Division I systems that can and will replace him. I hope this clown gets real time for this. I wish he goes for a jury trial -but chances are they'll plea it out. Rumor has it that his lawyers are trying to work out a plea which includes him not getting banned form the NFL -fat chance of that.

...but I always have that fear when people with deep packets are in legal shit...they very often seem to find an easy way out...like probation..As far as I am concerned, anyone who could be as sick as this fuck is deserves all he gets..I really fear for people who have to associate with someone who could brutally kill animals the way he is accused of doing.....piss him off...and who knows what could happen..

I sense Vick's football career will be impacted by the statements he made during a face to face meeting with the new commish -where he publicly denied any part of any gambling operation. If and when the NFL slaps Vick, it'll be more for the gambling angle rather than the cruelty to the dogs.

I do hope federal prosecutors go after this guy with the RICO laws and maybe throw in some sort of tax violation, so that he'll have to pay (in dollars) for his crime. Nothing hurts guys like this more than taking their bling away.

I really hope he fights this in court -not only will that take a good chunk of his money away but it'll really show what kind of scumbag he is.

Farking pussy took a deal. I would have loved to see this go to trial -it looks like he'll get 12-18 months plus a fine. I hope the judge loves dogs and gives him more time.

What players like McNabb, Manning and Brady understand that a moron like Vick never will is, the bigger you get the more cautious you have to become. Not walk thru an airport with a suspicious looking water bottle, not hang around second rate gang-bangers and hanger-ons and certainly not bank roll a low-end bloodsport suitable only for in-bred country idiots. Is Vick a victim of the system? Was he given too much too soon? Did this give him an air of being an untouchable? -probably. But so what. It doesn't negate the fact that the guy is an asshole.

The maximum penalty for his crimes are around the 5 year mark. He won't likely get that because he plead guilty but I really hope this guy is done. All the falcons have to do is keep him on the roster for a year or so then they can go after the 22 million they gave this meathead for a signing bonus. If the federal prosecutors don't get him, the commish will. The new commish flexed his muscle with PacMan and I think Goodell, for the sake of his league and to clean up it's tarnished image will drop the hammer on Vick.

A lot of things can happen in a trial -witness may have "flawed" recollections, some witnesses might get lost on their way to the courthouse, a guy like Vick can OJ his way out of this with a stupid jury and with enough money, millions can be spent by both ends on appeals. Plus Vick probably still thinks he has a chance at playing in the NFL again so he wants to do his time as quick as possible.

But...

This way -no trial, all prelims and grand jury stuff and he admits to his guilt. Everybody is happy. The prosecutors flex their muscle by saying -we have no problem going after a celebrity, he's guilty as shit, by his own plea, they save some taxpayers dollars, the owners of the Falcons can get some of their coin back at a later date. Everybody walks away from Vick and he becomes a footnote.

Goddell will likely enforce the lifetime ban under the personal conduct policy the NFL has on it's players against gambling (any form of gambling falls under this rule). There's a first time for everything -and this is as an appropriate time as any.

One full season away from competitive football is hard -sitting in a cell is worse. Even that kid (RB from Ohio???) who thought he could sue his way into the NFL found out, as young as he was; you can't stay away from football that long and maintain a competitive edge.

Worse of all, he looks like a smug prick on camera. Even Jamal Lewis -when he was convicted and spent 4 months in jail looked like he was genuienly sorry for his actions and apologized to his team. I'd like to see if this entitled smug asshole would do that -apologize to his team or even the fans. He might try it to see if he can brown nose his way back into the commish's good books and maybe the judge, but; we'll see. Maybe he'll pull a Kobe press conference.

I'm curious as to the deal he got. It better be for over a year in jail, hopefully more, or somebody in the prosecutors office isn't doing their job. Let's see if the Commish has the balls to ban him from the NFL for life. He should be.

What's the big deal, OJ got away with worse.

Michael Vick aside, Roger Godell should temper himself in using his iron fist. The NFL could face a major meltdown at the next bargaining sessions. The owners and the elite players have become fabulously wealthy while the rest live like wrestlers. The pension plan is a joke; Gene Upshaw is lucky that a Carl Brewer hasn't come forward but it's only a matter of time.

What's your point? That as long as it's not as bad as a double murderer it's no big deal?

It's been four months since authorities seized 66 dogs from the Virginia property owned by Falcons quarterback Michael Vick.

Federal authorities have control of 53 of the dogs, all pit bulls (local authorities have the other 13), and if no one claims legal ownership of them by Thursday, a federal judge will decide what happens to them. The most likely decision will be to kill all 53.
Vicks is getting off easy if he's only banned for life.
