"Statistics Canada says there are now more millennials than baby boomers in the country, ending the 65-year rein of the post-Second World War generation as the largest cohort in the population. The federal agency noted the change in its population estimate for July 1, 2023, broken down by age and gender released today."

What does that mean for Canada? It means we will be a wiser and more conservative country as Millennials get older/wiser and assume more responsibilities.

It all depends. Our circle of friends include Asian and E.I. parents and their kids all score in the 90's in high school (just look at the top mark getters in their high school graduation class) and are doing well in uni. (Yeah, yeah, I know. The usual suspect(s) will yell racism/racist.)

Jews were the top marks getters when I graduated from high school.

In my company getting a younger cohort to hang around and not hop job to job is a challenge.
So maybe pressure on corp profits with increased training costs take hold to address high employee churn rate

There is immense pressure and expectations from EI or Asian parents generally. Historically they have relied on education as a means of bettering their prospects in life for themselves and their families and that carries through. It can be a double edged sword sometimes

True, very few Asians make $100mm in baseball/football/etc. Education, even though they are penalized by "affirmative action" for others but not for Asians, is their road to success.

I've seen resumes where a 30 year old job applicant is already on their 3rd or 4th job.

Curious about which field. For quite a lot of millenials layoffs have been a normal thing that happens every few years. So I might not be their own choice to switch

Professional services firm - professional engineers in all sorts of disciplines, surveyors, geoscientists, etc.
We focus on infrastructure so we actually usually get busier when economy slows down, and it is very rare to lay folks off.

But mid level folks seem to want to see the world, etc.
So we try to satisfy.
Operate in 30 countries, 18 different currencies (euro simplifies some things).
Can go on swap for 3 months, a year too to see if you want to make it permanent.

Got talking to a lady in the lunch room a week ago.
She was on swap from Holland, and is a contaminated soil remediation specialist, and we do that from my office site too.
So she was polishing reports and doing non professional not needing to seal the reports stuff on jobs here.
But still see what we did, and said it was almost the same as she saw in EU.

Said she was likely to head back. Wrap up EU ongoing projects that she still was on part time while here, and likely move here in less than 6 months. We will hire her.
