Well I guess I am the only one. Somehow some lamebrain decided it was good to hold a beauty pagent in Nigeriria during Ramadan. All in a country which despises women or, at the very least, makes them second class citizens. Our Miss Canada got out becaure, among other things, her life was at risk. Now she is fighting to get re-instated as a contestant. Is there any wonder why the pagent is somewhat reviled today? The planning for this pagent; no logic, no common sense, no intelligence, -- just something the Cretien government would concockt.

Have you seen Ms Canada, are you kidding me. That is the best we could have sent. No wonder she withdrew, she knew she did not have a snowballs chance in h*ll of winning.
The whole contest is a joke.
Why do people bash Chretien so much, but no one says anything about Mr Mulroney. The crook, the inovator of the GST.

Pallydin....and why exactly do you think free trade was a bad thing (if that ,in fact , is your view ) ? Because the Toronto Star told you it was/is ?....lol .

The fact that we are proceeding with Kyoto with such a low knowledge base is nothing short of frightening . They will probably put that Stewart buffoon in charge of it .

I actually didn't think that Ms. Canada was horrible - but she needs to give her head a shake if she still wants back into this farce or if she thinks she has any chance of winning .

Mr. Mulroney is our most underrated PM. As Sheik mentioned, the visible 7% GST replaced an invisible federal manufacturing sales tax. Since taxpayers have a right to know when and how much tax they are paying, the GST is more honest. Also, if you've ever owned or run a business which carries alot of inventory, the input tax credits are a big help to the cash flow, it sure beats having a disbursed FST sitting on the shelves waiting to be recouped at the consumer level.

When we look at the record of the Chrétien/Martin Liberals, what have they done?

They kept the GST. They kept and strengthened free trade. They maintained the flattened tax brackets introduced by the Mulroney conservatives.

What did they campaign for in 1993? In 1993, the Liberals promised to cancel the helicopter contract for our armed forces and promised to cancel the Toronto Airport deal. Both of these cancellations blew up in their face.

The only important matters on which the Chrétien/Martin Liberals differed from the Mulroney PCs are the consitution and attitude towards the USA. Mulroney tried hard with Meech and Charlottetown and failed. Chrétien/Martin almost lost the Quebec referendum in 1995. Neither government's performance has been stellar. I preferred Mulroney's approach, but I believe that Chrétien/Martin have been more effective. OTOH on foreign policy Mulroney wins hands down. Liberal foreign policy has been one disaster after another.

Mulrooney had a much stronger character than Cretian. Jean is a dumb ass. He should retire now before he hurts the liberal party anymore.

BTW Mulrooney wasn't a crook. He told everyone his intentions prior to being voted in. Only problem, most people expected him not to keep his promises like that retard Trudeau.
