Wouldn't it be funny, if Tampa Bay beats Texas, and then beats the Yankees (if they pass Detroit) to get into the World Series!

You would have to blame Giraldi for not sending closer Rivera to finish the 9th inning.

TEX in 5 (more hopeful than anything)
DET in 4 (one word Verlander)
PHI in 3 (too much pitching)
MIL in 5 (very even series, edge to Brewers more experience)

Philly-Milwaukee

Texas-Philly

Philly (too much pitching that has dominated on the postseason stage recently)

What do the Tigers do with Verlander?

His innings will probably be restricted tonight due to the rain delay. With one inning pitched, could you pull him (have a go with your third or fourth starter), and have Verlander as the starter in game 2 and game 5.

ABNY (anyone but New York)

It will be nice to watch alot of former Jays competing in the play offs
MLB former BJays in playoffs.
NHL former Leafs in playoffs.
NBA former Raptors in playoffs
MSLE former TorontoFC players in playoffs.
CFL former Argos in playoffs and what is really sad the fact that 6 of 8 teams make the playoffs.

It was going to be tough to top that final day of the regular season, a blow out and a rain out did not even come close obviously.
All four series go today and as a baseball fan I hope at least two are still close in the seventh, eighth and ninth.

First round series have generally been duds in the playoffs especially in the NL. There have been some good games, but the level of three game sweeps is hard to rationalize.

In 32 NLDS five game series (since inception in 1995), an amazing 16 have been sweeps, and only 4 series have been pushed to five games.

In the ALCS it is not so bad - 11 sweeps, and 10 series have went to 5 games.

27 sweeps out of 64 series is very high.

More simply:
27-3 games
23-4 games
14-5 games

Wonder if the Yanks will do something really stupid like they did last year and screw themselves from going to the World Series?

They had their big break in this series already. Verlander essentially will be only able to pitch one game in this series.

Why can't they put a damn roof on Yankee Stadium? Playing in the rain is ridiculous.
I don't think they have a grass yet that can survive with a roof. Putting astroturf in yankee stadium would be like putting fake ice in the ACC.
