there was a thread on this topic 3+ years ago. figure since it's outdated and in wrong forum i'll start a new one.

just read that rogers controls the speeds on their modems. if i bought a modem on ebay that doesn't have a control limit, would it be compatible with rogers???

i was also wondering if anyone knows which rogers' modem is faster, their current scientific atlanta or motorola modems???

thanks.

I haven't looked into it directly, so I'll defer to others who have. But I think you'll find that the rate limits aren't set in the modem per se, but are set up as the modem communicates with the "head end".

You should be able to find more details if you google "docsis".

Rogers looks for any excuse not to support you. This would be a no-brainer for them. I also advise against it.

Um ok.

How about backing up that statement.
Not enough space here to describe the incompetent service I have received from Rogers. I run a technology based business and stand by my comments.

Bell has set the bar for poor service but Rogers keeps taking runs at it...

The SA or the Motorola will both give you the same speed for your package.
But, if you have to know, in lab testing, the SA modem's top speed was slightly higher than Motorola's. Top speed is over 35Mbps, so not an issue for you.

Fastest package is called Extreme Plus @ an advertised 18Mbps. Actual speed is about 16Mbps.

Just because you run a business doesn't mean your smart, or a reasonable minded consumer. Im sure you tried to get your way and you dint, and you just want to cry about it.. Its ok, you can join bell.
A little defensive are we? Who are you, Ted Roger's son?

You know nothing about me, my business and my experiences with Rogers. So spare me your pointless remarks. The OP asked for an opinion and I provided mine based on a very similar situation.

Now go bundle something and piss off.

Too funny. Do you post just so you can use the word "dint" or is it your unique way of spelling " else ware" you feel you must share? I don't see anything else here that is notable.

Oh.. and you can swear too. I guess you win

I am sure the OP could easily take from my comments that a modem not provided by Rogers (or shoud I say Razons) can create a support nightmare. I neglected to draw it out in crayon for you. My bad.

Dude.. quit trying to be a psychologist and take your Roger's fanboy act somewhere else. It's old already.

Exactly numb nuts! Back up your statements and you would look less like a moron. You just look like any other Average Frustrated Male who thinks hes smart. anyone can have a business if they pay 80 dollars to register, so your shit don't fly. I guess you don't know anything about me, so I guess its mute point.

What?? umm ok..

You dint provide a opinion based on anything, you made a statement on nothing.. OP asked a question about modem speeds not service or your experience with rogers on customer service, or your problems with support,.

Pls take your douche bagging and trolling else ware..
