Monitor display question

By accident, I once set my display such that my desktop was about four times the size of my screen. I could put the cursor in a corner of the screen and scroll to various parts of my desktop.

The effect was irritating at the time, so I reset everything.

Now, I want to re-create the effect.

Does anyone know how?

Thanks in advance.

You should try right-clicking on a blank portion of your desktop.

Selecting the Properties choice that comes up on the pop-up.

This should give you a pop-up called Display Properties.

Select the Settings tab in this window.

You should see a slider in a frame called Screen resolution...it should be at something like 1024x768 or 1280x1024 but basically as you slide it to the right it will increase your screen space/dimensions. The effect you described is when you set your dimensions to a larger (or higher) resolution than what you monitor (LCD I assume) can handle and thus you can have stuff off the screen.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply registrar1.

I am familiar with increasing the display resolution, but even at the highest resolution, the desktop fits within the monitor screen.

I did a google search with "scrollable desktop" and found the following:

I may download this program, but I don't remember downloading any software (other than Photoshop) when I created the giant display on my monitor by accident.
