many of MONSTERS products are on clearance at radio shack by circuit city.

but, many cheaper manufacturers make the same quality.

HDMI quality has to pass assurance tests, so any brand is ok.
same with any hi-bandwidth cable including cat5, cat6, firewire, usb, etc...

in my home theatre, i use HDMI for video, but use the digital fibre optic audio hookups instead of sharing bandwidth with the video on the HDMI. also, the fibre optic cables are only 2 feet long ( just enough to go from one componet to another when they are in a stack)

Okay , for kicks I bought a phillips HDMI cable , and I will say the picture and sound are better than the component cable.

However it seems slow , flip channels , and its black screen for seconds then the channel kicks in, makes surfing a pain.
Now I did set the rogers box for 1080i, 1080p, 720, 480 etc, and to "upconvert -1"

not to mention reprogramming the remote...
It will take sometime changing from hd to non hd channels with the rogers box. Also to another post oppo dvd players will upconvert over component but most others will not. Here is a good read on cable boxes

HDMI vs component, no contest

If you can't see the difference using HDMI you either need to upgrade your TV or HD source or get your eyes checked. Or both.

I use the Phillips HDMI cables from Walmart and they seem to work the same as more expensive ones. I can't vouch for any "no name" brands but I'd say if you stick with a known brand you can pay less and not suffer quality.
