Just on CP 24.

I wonder how long the cops will take to shoot it to death?

T.O.
Was just watching; poor thing looks highly disoriented. Came alarmingly close to traffic; hope it can find safety.

It looks very young.

I would hope they could tranquilize it and move it up to Algonquin or the like.

The cops are probably getting ready to shoot it though.

Probably doesn't help having that helicopter buzzing overhead either.

I was in Banff one time and a Moose was just strolling down the main street there. Nobody was even phased.

Helicopter is no where near the moose . The picture is coming through a long distance lens . Cops are having a hard time contacting the MNR . What else is new ? MNR is useless . They hardly ever respond in a timely manner when they are needed . But they look good in their fancy uniforms and guns strapped to their sides at the Sportsman shows .

I don't recall any moose walking around in Banff but there were mule deer. One snuck up behind me and was trying to lick the back of my neck. lol

Go in September. I was there and an entire herd plunked itself on the soccer field by the Bsnf Springs Hotel. For days.

Japanese tourists were getting chased by a bull moose for getting too close for pictures. Lots of casual entertainment for us staff.

Sounds suspiciously like it may be infected with Brain Worm.
I didn't realize you were a vet as well as a lawyer.

Or did you just google that.

I'm hoping that they tranquilize the poor animal. Presumably they could check it out then. Or do you just figure that you will be a contrarian and advocate that the animal be blasted based on your vast knowledge of Moose physiology.

I live in an area were there is a Moose - White Tail Deer interface and have both a brain and a good memory.

Ontario will do what Ontario will do. In most other places going by what Legmann posted about it's disorientation, and not wishing to spread brain worm they would almost certainly euthanize the moose.

Of course it's disoriented. It's in the City where there are roads, fences, cars, houses, yards, dogs, people, noise. It's in unfamiliar territory and it's stressed.

Ever think of that?

Or did you just google away "moose erratic behavior"

That it has wandered all the way from where moose normally live to the area of Buttonville Airport, is indicative of likely being affected by Brain Worm.

By the way brain worm Parelaphostrongylus tenuisis is a lethal disease in Moose.

I was on Hwy. 169 just outside of Gravenhurst when a moose darted out from behind a barn. My first thought was "What's a camel doing in Muskoka?"

Yeh, yeh, typical reaction of a city boy.

It sounds like you were disoriented. Did you get checked for brain worm?

You may be confused by foraging and or curiosity.

I found this information from a web site :

Just how will you know if a moose has a case of brain worm?

One or more of the following symptoms may be present:

weakness of the hindquarters*
turning of the head and neck to one side*
fearlessness*
lethargy*
REM or rapid eye movement*
blindness*
circling*
inability to stand*

I suggest these symptoms are not consistent with our young adventurer.
