Calautti has been suspended with pay from her job as a special education teacher at Notre Dame Secondary School in Brampton. She has been a teacher for 10 years and has taught at Notre Dame since 2000.

I used to think that, but then someone posted a link (on Terb? I think so) to a giant site listing hundreds of female teachers that had sex with their students. As with the rest of the world, 90% of them were totally unattractive.

What exactly is the charge?

Unless this 16 year old is somehow mentally challenged or otherwise comprimised or incompetent, what is the problem? Call me a pig, and I would really like that by the way, but at 16, I would have slept with anything I could lure into the sack. I have a hard time believing this guy is a "victim" and if he did in fact have sex with this chick, my guess is he will cherish the moment for the rest of his life. But then again, I'm fifty-seven years old and when I was his age things were different. In fact, in my high school, a teacher married one of his students shortly after she graduated from grade thirteen. True story folks!

I don't think it was the the student who was complaining, probably his parents. Charge would be the same as for guys using internet to try to sleep with underage girls would be my guess.

The problem isn't really one of his age vs. her age.

The problems is that she is a high school teacher and has a certain ethic to uphold that includes not sleeping with her students. (If she did - and frankly, it doesn't sound like she did.)

Never the less, our society is full of double standards whether we like to admit it or not. If she did bed the kid, I really really doubt that he is going to be scarred for life. If he says she didn't fuck him and he says the same, then that's it as far as I am concerned.

The media loves these kinds of stories.

It's a bit stronger than that. The sexual assault law has provisions in it for anyone who is in a position of "trust and authority" over a minor, which a teacher plainly is. In fact that term is generally interpreted VERY broadly: Someone can be in a position of trust and authority simply by behaving like an authority over the minor, even if they are a relative stranger.

So, you are right that she has an ethic to uphold, and that ethic is explicitly written into the law and made into statutory rape in this case (assuming something happened between them).

You guys on here who think this is awesome have obviously a cynical view of sex built over the years, and have no clue as to how a 16 year old when developing this kind of relationship with someone in authority like a teacher, actually thinks the adult cares and loves them and not just using them as a fuck toy.

I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately it can be a double standard whenever it is discussed if the gender roles were reversed. A 27 yr old male teacher with relations with a 16 yr old.

What I also don't like is when a teacher has been charged with some sort of sexual misconduct the teacher is just moved to another region, and not terminated. I know of two teachers this has happen to. In one case it involved inappropriate touching.

Being in a special ed class the kid was obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

If this was a male teacher fucking a 16 year old gearbox would you have the same leniency toward the teacher?

Double standards cannot be tolerated, the school board needs to fire her perverted ass and the law should throw the book at her the same as a male teacher who is fucking a vulnerable "dumb" girl.

That being said, she has a future in this business (ours I mean) where she belongs.

We don't know the student was a special ed student. Perhaps he got to know her if she volunteered for afterschool programs. Or maybe he's dyslexic or on ritalin, rather than a "gearbox".
