I am moving on Tuesday. I am closing on both homes on same day...the one im moving out of and the one moving in to.

Im using the money from one house to close the other. This means I have to move out and move in the same day. Its a 4 bedroom house to a 4 bedroom house. I hired 4 movers with a truck to help with this move.

The dilemma here is I told the movers to come at 10am and I have to be outta this house by 2 or 3 pm according to lawyer. However I may not get keys to my other place till 3 or 4pm. Which means I may have to may the movers 1-2 hours for just waiting for me to get keys. Should I ask them to start at 11 instead of 10 to save the extra $230/hr or is it better to be safe than to have to scramble?

What are you guys thinking?

Depends on the movers and how quickly they can move stuff from your current house into the trucks. A 4 bedroom house to move to a truck is a lot of stuff even with 4 movers especially the stuff that's fragile. You can always ask them if they can start one hour later but what happens if there's a delay of any kind and you're not out of the 1st house by 2/3pm. On the flip side, why the delay in getting the keys to the 2nd house? That doesn't make sense to me. It may cost a few extra dollars but I'd sooner have the movers have house #1 emptied in time and if the cost is a 1-2 hour to wait, not much you can do about that. BTW, how are you getting the keys to house #2 and the reason for the delay to getting the keys?

The delay is because im depending on the funds received from the house im selling to purchase the new home im moving into. The funds have to clear both homes to be able to receive keys.

That’s seriously overestimating the advice of a bunch of perverts with a few bucks to spare.

You’re working with a lawyer I assume? What’s s/he say?

Most of us have bought one or two properties at most - ask someone who does this for a living.

ALTHOUGH - saving a few hundred dollars does get you an extra blowjob from a pretty girl, so I’d go with that.

Spend the money and get them there early. Moving always takes longer than we hope for. And there are ALWAYS delays. Even if it just traffic. Then the movers might start charging you overtime charges etc. Movers are notorious for extorting people for extra charges when the stuff is still on the truck.

Being cheap gets expensive,

My experience, the movers will take longer than expected and always end up screwing something up or breaking something.
They also may show up late, that's another one.
Getting the keys on time? So many variables that will not work out either. Moving is a lot of fun, seriously.
