i have been a Netscape > Firefox guy for ever...in the last week i noticed my bookmarks disappear and no history(can't return to previous page) after a long section (at the end of the day)... i do the usual mal/spyware scan but nothing really comes up. i have to reboot my PC to get it back to working specs...Question is...anyone else have the same problem!?

That happened to my FF a few times a few years ago ( 2005 ish ? ) with their early version. I periodically back up my BM ever since.

Had no such problem since 2006.

it happens

I lost it once, then I looked for help for a temp folder and found my old bookmarks. I back it up once in a while. It could be what you guessed.

it happens after a while online...i still have the problem...no history to return to...and no book marks/favorites listed... they return after a full restart of my PC...this has been the case for more than a week.

An easy solution for the meantime until a proper fix can be done is to store your bookmarks on the desktop instead of the browser. The big advantage to this is you can back up your bookmarks and use them for any browser. Using this method, you can even carry your most favorite (or wife forbidden private) bookmarks in your Flash Disk and access them where ever you use a web browser.

When I set up PCs for my company, the sites I want all employees to know about and use, I put in a folder on the server. That way, every employee had access to the same bookmarks and I could update this list without going around to each indivual PC and updating their internet explorer.

If you want to do something similar:

  1. Open your browser so that a portion of the desktop is still showing
  2. Type in the URL you want to go to or select it from your bookmark
  3. Put the mouse in the address box and drag the address to the desktop
  4. You will see a icon on your desktop that if you can double click to start your default browser and go to the site
  5. You can create a folder on the desktop and put the icon into there or simply copy to a flash disk for portable use.

I think the fix was to reinstall FF but back up your bookmarks.
That fixed it for me.
