Although a first time poster, I've indulged in the hobby for a number of years. I used to post extensively on Canbest when it was the only game in town. I first got involved when MDS was in its heyday, followed the crowd to Fantasia (and up the stairs into Sybarites a few (like 30) times), onto Bunnies, followed my ATF to Locomotion. Used to spend 3 afternoons a week at Club Pro (you get the picture).
As a preface, I admit that my life as a strip club patron was about getting off. I was not looking for companionship or making friends (although I did meet some interesting (some a little too interesting) people and still see an old regular for lunch once every couple of months)
For me, my life as a strip club denizen is over. MPs are where it's at. Here's why (in no particular order).
1) Mileage
Let's face it (and this is not news), the glory days at SCs are well behind us. If the mileage is still "outtathisworld", Al Monzo will likely catch up with it at some point.
2) The Web
For many MPs, the web now offers the committed hobbyist with a chance to browse and select his/her attendant and book an appointment. Contrast that with the trek to your favourite SC hoping that a favourite will be there or that somebody else there will "tickle" your fancy. How many of us have made the trip down the 407 from Loco to Pro because one or the other did not pan out or the 7 pm shift change brought nothing of interest. This board (and boards like it) help the selection process.
And from those of us who are chained to desks downtown, I extend my undying thanks to the brothers who have the time, dollars and inclination to explore uncharted suburban waters and report on their findings here.
3) Time
Badda bing badda boom, you're finished in 30-60 minutes. At an SC, you could be waiting for 45 minutes for her to reappear from the change room (she came in wearing a fuchsia bikini with stilettos and the guys seem to be favouring orange miniskirts and those clunky clear plastic heels that give me an instant boner). Don't these girls know that I've got things to do, people to see in the side of my life that's public.
4) $
Does this internal monologue sound familiar: " A girl this hot has to give better dances than that. I'll keep her for 2 more dances and if they don't improve, I'm outta here". $60 (plus VIP fee) later, you' re back out in the moshpit- now only looking for guaranteed mileage (see 3, above).
5) Smoke and booze
The only way I managed to conquer this was to shower and change clothes (see 3, above). I was the cleanest guy in the GTA but my dry cleaning bill was killing me. Some of these clubs seem to have a 1:1 ratio of wait people to patrons (by far, Seductions in NF was/is the worst for this).
6) Secrecy and privacy
You're at an SC by yourself exiting the VIP with some Romanian bombshell on your arm and bump into your boss, brother in law, father in law, father, son, etc. who's been dragged there for a "going away" party. Is this your worst nightmare? Granted, you can never eliminate the risk of being found out, but isn't the hobby all about risk management. Having said that, like in the rest of our lives, some are more risk tolerant than others. As for privacy, how many of you have chosen dancers based on what's happening on and around the sofa next to you. The days of Bunnies/Fantasia privacy are long gone.
I know, I know, there is a certain electricity at a SC. You have beautiful women coming up to you and pretending they want to spend time with you. The thrill of take out is unmistakable. The thrill of take out you don't pay for (once) added about 3 years to my life expectancy and did wonders for my male menopause ego. SC's are a crap shoot. You never know who's going to be there. BUT mps can be as well - try EBC once and a while and that can get your heart racing.
For those of you who are committed to the SC scene, that go for the companionship aspect (or whatever), I'm glad it works for you.
For me, I'm moving on.
