I read that book and the theory works for some high class courtesans or those offering a unique kink or look or freshness. But in general, an escort must compete with the rest of the girls with her price.

A lot of comparing apples and oranges in his discussion; he compares incomes of modern street walkers to old time brothel workers (at a high end brothel) in order to supposedly show that the profitability of the business has dropped, for example. Overall, rather quick and shallow analysis; some good points, but ignores lots of very important complications.

Although it doesn't say at the original link, I believe this is an excerpt from "SuperFreakonomics" which was the 2009 follow-up to the original bestseller Freakonomics.

Both books should be a must read for any "critical thinker" as they provide an excellent view on cause and effect as well as how statistics can be skewed or used to actually get at the truth.

I agree with DocOdd overall, unfortunately to keep the book (and the article) relevant to the masses the authors have to somewhat boil down the information or they risk it sounding like a doctoral thesis.

LOL, there are plenty of those Allie type "mistresses for an hour/a week" already in China, hundreds thousands of them.

They might be available for loaded white dudes five years ago or so but nowadays they are not for exports.

And they only accept say real LVMH/Gucci/Hermes bags as tips, in addition to the donation comparable to say an hour incall for an Anglo-Saxon SP.

I agree, that argument seems very weak.

True enough. It might very well make more sense if you read the whole thing. The article seems kind of all over the place.
