My sad story

Z103.5 had a radio-thon yesterday for the four kids whose mother was shot & killed in a club last weekend. I am not the type that donate. It's not because I am a heartless person ( or someone may want to call me one ). Sometimes I just can't justify donating one & not donating to another. However, I really felt for the family & the four poor kids. I have three my own & I just couldn't imagine the devastation if something like this happens. As most of you would probably know, their father also died of cancer 2 years. Four orphans to be raised by their grandparents. It's just very sad. So anyhow, the station were mentioning the account number the whole yesterday & suddenly something struck me.............

If I can come up with a combination from the given account number & win a lottery, then donate 10% to the family & say that it's a miracle from their parents, it would be a wonderful story. How naive I was, huh?

Oh yeah, I also have a habit of buying my family's birth months & days whenever I have that "lottery feel". You know, those weird dreams about numbers, those sudden urge of buying lottery. I am sure everybody has that. I decided to spend my $10 bucks on Super7 because of the 20M jackpot. That would be a nice 2 million going to the family.

Anyway, to make a long story short. I had a "feel" of buying Keno yesterday on the 10 numbers of my family's birth months & days but I chose to buy Super7 instead with the account number combination because of the huge payout. Know what? NINE numbers in my birth months & days came up in Keno yesterday & the $10 bucks would have turned into $50000. That means $5000 would go to the family. Well, it's too late now.

One more note, for my stupidity sake, I will make that $10 donation to the family on Monday which was meant to be donated to them.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate "miss". But you're really just throwing your money away when you play the lottery. I think it's ok to spend a couple of bucks a week just for fun because you never know, but anything more than that is senseless.

You must feel terrible, but it could have been worse. I've heard of a guy playing the slots and winning the Megabucks Jackpot. Only problem? He put only two quarters in, so he won about $50,000 instead of the $25 million jackpot. Ouch!

I am 7 numbers away from being wealthy.

Seriously, never second guess your gut.

Edge102 were scalping tickets on Friday for the same cause. I bought them for $500 (face value $140) because I would have tossed that to a scalper on concert night, and those kids need it more. I wanted the Coldplay tickets but at $1400 it was a bit high....
Way back in the mid 90's you could buy 649 tickets for up to 2 draws in advance, no more. We always bought the same numbers and I bought the 2 draws in advance before we went on a month long vacation. It was a few years later when I checked the "have your numbers ever won" box and after keying in my numbers it showed a draw where we had 5 + bonus correct...$174000.... but it was one of those draws that we were away for.... I only buy the occasionally now.....crap happens

It's been good to know ya
I agree the lottery is a waste of time and that is why I have never played the lottery. I get a few tickets given to me each year from my sister as a Christmas present and think if I am going to win maybe my sister will make me lucky.

I will be honest

I am not really a "LottoHolic". I buy whenever the pot is over five million. A couple of bucks here & there. With twenty million last week, I bought ten bucks. With the company's "retire, get out of work & QUIT" pool, that's another couple of bucks. On average, I chip in about three hundred dollars a year, which is still a small amount comparable to my MP fees. :D

I ended up donating twnety dollars today to the family. For anyone who wants to donate, go to any Royal Bank & they will be able to help you. Just say you are donating to that family. They will know.

BTW, some unknown guy who's already made a $10000 donation is willing to match the total of all the other donation combined. It's for a good cause, pls donate!!!

Peace!
