Nassar abuse survivors reach $380 million settlement with USA Gymnastics

A years-long lawsuit between USA Gymnastics and 500-plus abuse survivors has reached its conclusion.

"Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on December 7, 2017, after pleading guilty to child pornography and tampering with evidence charges on July 11, 2017. On January 24, 2018, Nassar was sentenced to an additional 40 to 175 years in Michigan State prison after pleading guilty in Ingham County to seven counts of sexual assault of minors. On February 5, 2018, he was sentenced to an additional 40 to 125 years in Michigan State prison after pleading guilty to an additional three counts of sexual assault in Eaton County. The Eaton County sentence will run concurrently with the Ingham County sentence."

He'll be eligible for parole on February 5, 2143.

His hi jinks went on for 30 years yet nobody had a clue. USA gymnastics kind of like the Catholic church. I suppose, like the Catholic church, they are insured and protected.

He kinda looks like Peewee Herman there.

All the money in the world wont restore what the victims in this sordid tale had imposed on them. Innocence lost and any real justice way long delayed.

Hopefully most of the money ends up in the hands of the victims and is tied to the services of independent therapists that heal your mind, not a muscle sprain.

And also hopefully not excessively skimmed off the top by the lawyers who pulled this deal together on behalf of the victims. Hey it is Christmas season so lets believe in Santa Claus on this one.

I would be surprised (shocked?) that nobody had a clue with over 500 victims and over a 30 year period.

If somebody else knew or suspected and didn't call the police, then he/she could end up like Joe Paterno.
