Didn't know her story well but seems like she battled some demons during her life. The duo she did with Nat on "Unforgettable" after he died was pretty cool.

Apparently, she was doing crack and heroin for a very long time. She was one of the very few great talents in show business.

Very sad. I didn't realize the extent of her troubles with addiction. Wow. Most likely led to the congestive heart failure. RIP.

Very sad. I didn't realize the extent of her troubles with addiction. Wow. Most likely led to the congestive heart failure. RIP.

Seems like a possible progression.

Back in 1975 she was arrested in Toronto for heroin possession so the drug problems went back a a long time.

She admits that she was a long time heroin and crack addict and shared needles. Sometime in the early 200's she discovered she had Hepatitis C. The chemo and antiviral drugs caused severe damage to her kidneys, such that she was on dialysis. These drugs are also known to cause long term heart problems. She received a kidney transplant from a fan. However, her system never recovered and congestive heart failure is consistent with all these (known) health problems.

All arising from drug use.

So sad because she really seemed like a nice, decent woman and obviously incredibly talented and her music brought a lot of joy to the lives of many people.

Listening to Nat King Cole's songs when replying this. Such a great voice. The songs are so simple while beautiful. How come we don't have songs and singing like this anymore?

RIP
