Well, I don't now. I used to.

Put it this way. It's really not hard to stay away from bars.
You'll have more free time and more money for the hobby :)

First thing you have to do is get rid of your drinking buddies.
Once you are on your own, things will be much easier.

I seldomly drink alcohol.

I have never been a drinker, never really liked the taste, especially beer. I have probably had about 3 or 4 beers in my life, the last one being 1989 - Ottawa, Canada Day.

It was putrid.

I go to bars, but order a coke or orange juice. They charge the same as a beer (and a glass of fountain coke costs what 5 cents). I don't really care about the price, my big complaint is often they put it in some girly girl glass.

My vice is women.

God, how they are addictive

my problem is

sometimes I go to strip bars to get in the mood before I go to an MP or Incall escort. Also, sometimes I will just have a couple of drinks before I go into the VIP.

I don't drink and it's quite simple.

Just avoid situations that are deathly-boring when sober:

- Bars
- Live professional sports
- Softball/bowling/golf league (or Canadian equivalent)
- Holidays with family

Take away the temptation and the rest is relatively easy.

Mmmmm beer

That's pretty funny about the 4-5 beers. My hockey buddies and I were tying to figure out how many beers we'd drunk in our lives. I figure I've had about 35,000 bottles. Oh, I'm 169 lbs. BTW.

As a girl told me once long ago, "I don't trust a man who doesn't drink".

Iguana,

Do you always drink beer from the bottle? I brought this point up with my hockey buddies at the bar after playing tonight. If you are drinking draft like us, you would have to factor in the size of the glass estimated with what is left in it when it is constantly refilled muliplied by the number of glasses. At this point we said fuck it a good estimate in onces would do. Still 35,000 beers! that's impressive! Works out to 1458.333333333 two-fours! What about quarts? 22 onces not 24 as in two beers. I hope you took this into account. I'm sure your calculations are correct to within 3-4 beers! ;-)

Lord Byron signs with the Kings...could the cat be headed back to the Leafs?

yeah, and you're also 4'9"

regarding Creemore, it's not just that one - it's pretty much any beer that follows Bavaian purity laws (i.e., no added sugars, corn starch, other gunk to make you burp, pee alot, feel bloated, suffer pounding headaches...all in all, major Canadian beers!) - stick with the microbrews and you'll bee happiest - go for Steamwhistle

Being taken to task.

It's unwise to swear an oath to The Big Show, especially if you can't keep it. Inevitably you will be taken to task for your transgression and The Big Show can forgive just about anything except broken oaths to HIM. You may be condemned to an eternity of playing chess versus Ripped.

Carefull with those oaths, buddy!

Guinness is the only beer and it's less fattening than most beers. At 198 calories a pint Guinness has fewer calories than a pint of skimmed milk or orange juice.

Tastes great, less filling.

Don't drink. Never have!

I decided not to drink way back in grade eleven at a party where everyone else was drinking. i was so rebellious that I thought I would further differentiate myself from my peer group by this simple expedient. Looking back at it now, I suppose eschewing alcohol actually made me feel smugly superior. Nonetheless, still one of the best decisions I ever made!

I inherited money @ 18 and surprise surprise, became a total drunk, then a drunk with drug problems to boot. I had fun for quite a while, then I got really really sick so I quit.

That lasted about 2 years. Then I started having lot's of trouble sleeping/relaxing. Found a few drinks would put me out like a baby (I later discovered that sleeping under the influence of alcohol disturbs your REM sleep, so it wasn't proper sleep I was getting) so I progressed quickly from a glass of scotch before bed to about 5 or 6, then maybe a morning Ceasar or Cuba Libre.

So I quit again, on the advice of some close friends who were concerned.

I've made the same promise to about 3 girlfriends now and broken it every time to disasterous result. I'm not sure why I flirt with self destruction so much, but it's a thrill I guess....

The drugs I have totally under control now. Clean for 2 years and no real desire to go back to that. But the drinking is getting to be too hard for me to kick, especially with the business I'm in.

It's tough to kick, but I'm sure it can be done. If this girl means a lot to you, then by all means do it or you stand to lose her. I lost a few good ones to booze and drugs over the years. It wasn't worth it....well, maybe a couple of times it was...;)
