i don't believe vancouver has room under the cap for forsberg unless philly takes chouinard, bulis, and someone else.

flyers are after prospect luc bourdon which nonis has stated will not happen. canucks do have lots of draft choices in this next draft so that could interest the flyers.

forsberg would love to come play with naslund. they would be almost unstoppable together, especially for a 2nd line.

He'll look good in the red and white colors of the Detroit Red Wings, and it wouldnt surprise me if thats where he ends up!

Teams would only have to pay him like 1.5-2mil or something around there.

Worth the rental as it seems his ankle problems are behind him. If he wants to stay in Philly, he can always re-sign in the offseason a la Mark Recchi.

tsn reported the flyers may want cory schneider and a 1st rounder for forsberg. i can see the canucks swinging this deal given that they have luongo now.

problem is although the canucks are in 3rd in the western conference, they could easily miss the playoffs with a bad week or two.

Listening to TSN at the intermission, they were saying Philly possibly wants a high end prospect and a 1st rounder for him...that seems way to steep for a guy for 2 months.

I know whats being reported, but is this Forsberg's complete list or a list of teams Forsberg likes and Philly is willing to trade with? Sounds odd that Forsberg leaves the west as a free agent and now will only consider moving back west. Logic would say that if he's going to be a rental and he knows it, then he should want to go to a contender, no matter which conference they are in. Unless he think only a team from the west will win it all this year of course.

i'm thinking it's philly wanting to keep forsberg as far away as possible.

i'm not a fan of the rental player for the playoffs. i think there should be a rule that the team who is dealing the player can not sign him back for one year.

Thats exactly what I'm getting at. Why would Philly want to do any favours for an Eastern Conference team. Also notice how Forsberg is staying quiet on this topic. Maybe he's interested in more teams than is being reported.

Why not? The Flyers are not going to be in the playoffs and Forsberg is a free agent at the end of the season...

Why trade him to a team that he may sign with afterwards? Do you think Philly wants to play against a potentially healthy Forsberg 6-8 times a season?

He can sign with any team afterwards. If that's the fear of the Flyers, they should just resign him and forget about trading him.

Yeah, but at the present the Flyers have control over which team can talk with him. If you trade him to Toronto for example they get a couple of months to negotiate with him before any other team.
