"Jap Scrap" was the term used for Toyota, Honda and Nissan (nee Datsun) a generation ago.

Someone told me about safety issues with Kias. Like any new company, they need time to develop, and they seem to be doing pretty good. But I would give them some more time.

Their only car that might interest me is a Rio5. Cheap and practical.

A Kia sports coupe would not be practical, imo, and it may not even be cheap.

I looked at Kias, and with all the options added, it was about the same price as Japanese cars.

I think Kias are fine cars, and imo, you could probably do just as well with a Kia.

But their designs didn't really seem exceptional to me, and the price, as I figured it, wasn't as cheap as it first appears. So for me, there was nothing to attract me away from the more established Japanese cars.

I like the car, but why would you name a coupe a Koup? What brilliant marketing executives decided to call the car a Koup. A 2nd year college marketing class would've come up with a better and more marketable name.

Kia has been around since 1944, look it up.

They're new to North America

I guess that means they're on a long slow learning curve...
