I haven't been listening to much that is new, quite frankly most of it isn't very good. However this caught my ear, they are called Metric. So what else is new and fresh - clue me in folks.

Please no pop tarts.

Metric has been around for awhile and dabbled in different musical styles. They're Canadian too. The singer's brother used to own a used record store called Bluestreak that I used to frequent in my early teens.

Lindi Ortega - Angels
shot entirely on an iPhone4

Her new album Little Red Boots has just been released.
Lindi Ortega is a Toronto-based singer/songwriter in the mold of classic artists Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris and contemporary acts Neko Case and Jenny Lewis. Torched songs filled with heartache and passion mixed with Lindi’s Mexican / Irish heritage make for an incredible record and unique artist personality. With a voice that “undulates with absolute splendor,” Lindi recorded Little Red Boots with Juno Award winning producer Ron Lopata. CBC Radio explains her style as “a dash of country, a pinch of folk, a sprinkle of rock, and a smidgeon of jazz”–a genre Ortega explains as “a roadside motel love affair between old school outlaws and country darlings.”

I too am also looking for new and exciting sounds. The one new band that stood out was Crystal Castles. They're a Canadian duo that have a unique, electronic sound. Their latest album was released last year, self-titled. Their debut was released in 2008.

Although not new to the music scene, SADE finally released new music after almost a 10 year absence. Her new album is called "Solider of Love". She also released an ultimate collection that has a few new tracks on it. So great to have her back again.

I love Metric. They have been around for years. They have released 3 albums and started getting some US attention with their 3rd album. They also had singles on the Scott Pilgram vs the World and Eclipse soundtracks.

If you like them I would recommend
Silversun Pickups
Deathcab for Cutie
Florence and the Machine
Mumford and Sons.
