How do you guys/gals feel about this new spot?

Im sort of undecided. The one thing I do think is rediculous is the two teams have a 1 game playoff. I think that part's retarded.

I think it's a good thing. There seems to be more teams in the hunt for a longer period this season, so there's more interest in general. That's good.
As far as the one game playoff, I like that too. It puts the division leaders on a higher level in the playoffs than the wild card teams, as I think it should be. A wild card team will have to use their #1 starter in the one game playoff, meaning (if they win) they start their #2 starter against the top starter of the top playoff team in their league.

definitely a yay, just look at the log jam of the American league for those wildcards, 5 teams are fighting for 2 spots and you know that's gonna go down to the last day of the season. One extra spot and playoff game is enough, the last thing we need is NHL style playoffs that drag on for a freaking 3 months, as stupid as hockey in June is, can you imagine the same with baseball in November.

I like it too. I would like to see a best of 3 to see which wild card team advances. To me, the biggest drawback of having a playoff of more than 1 game is extending the season. It can be pretty cold in a lot of cities in Oct./Nov. I suppose that could be overcome by shortening the regular season, however, that is unlikely to happen.

Hopefully with my face in a pussy
Call me a purist, but I don't like it. I know it's a revenue generator for the owners, but I don't want it getting like the NHL, where more than half the teams get in. In fact I would go back to two divisions in each league, and no wild cards.

See, I kind of feel this way too. Reason being is because baseball teams play 162 games. I kind of feel if you play that many games and come out on top, you deserve to only have to play two other teams to win the world series.

ah I was waiting for you "tradition" types to pop out, tell me what's so exciting about knowing your team is 15 games out of first place by July and has zero chance of going on further? why should fans pay attention, now throw in the wild card and you have absolute mayhem which is exciting, draws viewers, gets sports talk shows phones going off and writers spending hours on columns. Remember that last day of 2011, epic historical collapses, bottom of the inning walk off home runs and staying up to find out the scores of games, now that's exciting and please sir can I have some more.

I actually don't mind the set up the way it's been in the last few years with the 3 divisions and one wild card, but this new wild card with a one game playoff is retarded.
