How can Ovechkin, Lidstrom and no one from Boston, only the best team in the league, not have anyone on the all star team???? I know the fans vote, but wtf are they smoking????

I think this year's game will be a joke, more than the usual laugher that it has been the last 20 years or so. Thank goodness for the juniors.

Who cares? I love hockey, but I never watch the all star game. Nothing more than organized shinny. Tim Thomas wasn't even on the ballot. LMAO.

It is absolutely horrible that no one from Boston made the team.

My picks would have been Zdeno Chara, Marc Savard, Phil Kessel and perhaps Manny Fernandez. You could argue but Savard should have made it without a doubt.

To even question having Ovechkin (best all around forward in the league) or Lidstrom (best all around defenceman in the league) is hilarious.

There are other teams outside of Boston you know.

Not taking anything away from them but you're questioning guys that deserve to be on their respective teams.

My knowledge on hockey is extremely limited so I will refrain from commenting on who should or shouldnt have made it but this type of debate seems to happen in almost every all-star game in every sport. I think the leagues need to stop fan-voting and just allow players and coaches to vote with the only rule being that you cannot vote for players on your own team. If the league wants fan input, then maybe it should just be limited to one roster spot (for each conference). I still cant believe Brett Favre made it to the pro-bowl. Philp Rivers got robbed!

We all know the starting lineups that get picked in these all-star games are often debatable. However, Ovechkin will be there, Lidstrom will be there, lots of other stars will be there. No big deal.

The voting is only about the STARTING TEAMS...then the league choses the remaining players...there will be players representing every team, but thier will be some players who don't make it because certain teams (Montreal, Anaheim, Chicago, Pittsburgh) did a real good job stuffing the ballot box, or getting their fans to do it.

It is a joke...but Ovechkin will be on the All Star team..just not a starter.

I don't disagree but Luongo has spent significant time on the IR list this season. Unfortunately, it's all about fans stuffing the ballot box...As a Flyers season ticket holder they pump up the fans to get them to vote "as often as you want" but for me it is an absolute joke...so I boycot and don't vote at all.

imo, i think the best player from every team should get the chance to play in the all star game.

The NHL insures that their is a representative from every team...what hurts with the way the fan voting is done is that some players on teams that should make the all-star team won't because they will cut back...

For the Flyers - Carter, Richards, Gagne, and Timmonen should be all-stars but they will most likely only get two of those four designated. There are other deserving players from other teams that will also not make it because of the "ballot box stuffing" but that is the system...
