I have a strict cancelation policy, especially when touring.

What if a lady does not have a written cancelation policy?

Do you offer something to make up for her possible lost income?

If you do...
Only if she is touring? Or no matter where she is working from?

Does it depend on how long before the appointment you canceled, or how long you have had her hold your booking for?

My opinion is that something should be offered, and what you offer should depend on length of booking and date of cancelation.

Curious what your thoughts are.

The only times I have cancelled were with significant notice when my travel plans had to change, and once because I became sick the day before the appointment. In both cases the SP was understanding, and in the former, she had ample time to offer that booking to someone else. If I am uncertain whether or not I can make an appointment time, I don’t book it.

The issue is, the inconsiderate guys most likely to flake at the last minute and back out are also the least likely to offer any sort of compensation.

I never book in advance but always look for a provider that is available within about an hour of my desired link up time. Those rare instances where I had to back out may have cost the provider no more than 10min so did not feel bad or a need to compensate.

Without over thinking this, I would consider following hotel booking rules. Canceling 24hrs+ is okay. Anything less and it would be an appropriate jester to compensate.

If I have to cancel last minute I always send some $$ for time wasted. Doesnt matter if they are traveling or local. It's just a respect thing. Time is Money.
