UFC 151 set for Vegas has been cancelled after Hendo injury and Jones turns down Sonnen offer.

So ACC card will now be headlined by Jones & Machida for the 2nd time. Machida held his own last time in round 1 before Jones took over in the 2nd.

I can see Machida lasting more than 2 rounds in the rematch but don't think he has it in him to take out Jones.

Toronto card gets a boost since it has already lost the Rory Macdonald & B.J. Penn fight and the other main event is for the flyweight title.

Sucks to have UFC151 cancelled. Jon Jones is too selfish, and should of take this fight for the fans, and for the company.

I bet Dana wants to cut Jon Jones asap... Since he's not a massive draw for PPV.

Jones is insanely talented but I've never been a fan.

The UFC backed him when he had crashed his Bentley. If this were the NFL, he would've got his ass suspended.

Jones doesn't want to fight the spider. He doesn't want to fight Sonnen. He doesn't want to have a rematch with Machida.

Big props to Sonnen for accepting the fight on short notice. Yes, he talks a lot of smack but he stepped up big time here. Also, he just fought the spider at 185 and he's willing to move up to 205 with no training camp.

Jones is a weird one, complaining about a possible low pay per view payout against Machida but when given a chance to fight Sonnen which would have had insane hype and pay out he turns it down. As soon as I had heard that Machida was fighting in Toronto I was scouring Craig's List for tickets as he is my absolute favourite, but only to find out this morning that he has been replaced by Vitor Belfort, Jones will have the entire crowd against him here for this stunt and if Belfort does even manage to sneak a win the ACC will just explode.

I bet Dana White is begging some one to beat Jon Jones, so that he can cut him from the UFC. Eventhough hes the champ, hes no PPV draw...

While Jon Jones deserves some scorn for refusing to fight an undeserving replacement challenger in Sonnen, the bulk of the blame has to lie with Dana White and the folks at Zuffa. Why is the undercard so weak that they can't sustain the loss of one fight? (Look at the garbage on the UFC 151 card.) Why are they running 30 live/PPV events when they don't have the roster to support it? Why aren't contracts written with a shortlist of replacement fighters that the fighter will agree to fight in case of injury, etc.? Why don't they step up and do the right thing by paying the undercard fighters' minimum guarantees? Why don't they pony up the dough for the fans (who they claim to love) who bought flights, hotels, etc., for a card THEY cancelled?

Fighting an out-of-shape, blown up 185-pounder on a week's notice does nothing for Jon Jones. It does nothing for the legitimacy of the sport - a LHW title shot for a guy who hasn't fought at 205 in years and who was thumped in his last fight at MW. Chael Sonnen is a "name" because he is good at promoting fights through his mouth; there wasn't even time for the fans to get that sort of entertainment this time around, so this fight - which in all probability would have been a one-sided beatdown - does nothing for the fans.

I'd suggest that UFC fans save their scorn for those that truly deserve it.

Smart move by Jones. Fighting Sonnen would be retarded. Sonnen isn't fit to fight in his own weight class let alone as a light heavyweight. No point in risking injury facing an extremely inferior fighter like Sonnen. A mature decision from a young man who is the best in the sport. Sonnen is a clown and should have the grace to retire after his last beatdown from Silva.

How come no one mentioned that we are talking about the # 1 MMA organization in the world worth billions. Nobody sees anything wrong that some fighters, working for such a profitable company, will struggle financially just because one event has been cancelled?

Billions of dollars and some fighters only get a few thousand dollars for months of training where the fighters have to rent a gym and hire trainers. Should the event be cancelled, they lose their expenses. The UFC is not helping them. I remember in the earlier days where fighters would only get 1000$ or, yes look it up, fought for free. Also, there is no job security. The fighters cannot work for other promotions and may have to sign a no compete clause yet the UFC can cut their fighter after a loss.

Dana White and Co. are the organizers. The events are 100% their responsibility. Instead of having more diluted events where an injury can threaten the event, maybe have less events but better cards. It would have been nice to see Jones fight but he was under no obligation to fight. In contrast, it’s totally the UFCs responsibility to properly organize the events and to take care of their fighters which they do not.

I find it hypocritical that Dana would use the fighters situation to trash Jones when he does not even care for the fighters. The only thing he cares about is money. The UFC can certainly afford to give the event away for free to promote the sport and to take care of their fighters yet the UFC did not. Yet, they expect one of their fighters to take care of everyone and save the day?

I agree that the UFC is banking big time while the fighters get next to nothing for fighting. But until fighters make demands or UFC loses its monopoly on the sport, that won't change.

Also people need to stop acting like Dana White is in charge, he is a minority owner of an organization run by the Fertitta brothers. Sure he is the mouthpiece and the most well known for his being outspoken, but he isnt the head honcho that people think.

Dana White is the president of the UFC. The Fertitta brothers left him in charge and seldomly overrules him. You cannot assign a president and then tie his hands.

There's a lot of reasons not to like JBJ but the cancellation on UFC151 is not on him. He has every right to refuse the fight. You train hard to fight a certain fighter. You're risking your belt fighting a different one. Not that i'm saying he can't beat Sonnen. Other than that. He may have his reasons to refuse Sonnen. One, deprive Sonnen of an easy $$$ cash + a well deserved beating.
