There's lesson here and that is make sure you have working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors on every floor in your house. Not only will it save your life but also a hefty fine as well.Of course I agree. He won't get the max, but it's a combination stupidity fine as well as pulling all of the EMS troops in to save his family's life. He disconnected a CO2 detector that was sending alarms...what a dumbass.
If they could opt out of the taxpayer-funded health care system, fire/EMS, etc., they can do whatever they want. I don't think that's an option, so it's reasonable for the government to require certain safety standards. There's lesson here and that is make sure you have working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors on every floor in your house. I just wonder if some people might disagree on the basis that the government should not tell you what you must have in your private residence.
If possible, one should also bring a CO detector with them when they do overnight travel.Where I live now CO detectors aren't required by law. I installed one anyway...
I understand everyone's point about his stupidity being an unnecessary drain on emergency services (let alone his family almost dying), but where do we draw the line?I agree - he almost won a Darwin award for his stupidity. Should have to pay the costs for the emergency and medical services.
Don't all CO detectors have a test button?
