Met's fans will rot in hell for saying those things!!! 
BTW, in Allentown PA there is NOT an even mix of Phillies and Yankees fans. It is decidedly Phillies territory as their AAA club plays there, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. And Philly is closer than NYC.
Since I-78 was built in the 90s providing a quicker link to NYC a lot of Jersey and NY folks moved to the Lehigh Valley area for cheaper housing (resulting in them driving up real estate prices, etc). The lawyer who said that is most likely one of the transplants who doesn't really know. While there are more NY fans there than the past it is still a Philly sports town.
Not that any of that really matters, I just hate when my home area is mis-represented.
