This one has been bothering me for a while.

I was watching Cheaters (anybody catch it - its pretty frickin funny) and I noticed that sometimes they show people faces in it and sometimes they blurr them out. I remember they do this in Cops and other reality type shows.
Why is it that people can get to blurr their face out in certain shows but not blurr their faces out in like news programs?
Is there some sort of legal loop hole?

Don't they have to sign releases or something? Though, as I type that I realize how stupid some of these people would have to be to actually do that given the situations they find themselves in in some of these shows.
That what's I figured, but in new shows and investigative programs (like the Fifth Estate and Dateline) they don't have to ask the persons that they expose to sign a release?

You're right about that YYC; why would you want to show your face in National TV getting caught literally with your pants down and humiliated?

Maybe if they sign the release they get compensated. Not sure how much if any compensation would be involved - but it makes sense.
