I have been an iphone user since the 3GS, but am just about to give up on Apple due to many pet peeves way too long to mention on here. I've been following the smartphone development for a while and IMO I believe that the new OPPO Find 7 is the best option as of now.

I love the build quality, specs, aesthetics.

Recently i tried the Nexus 5 for a week I love the pure android os, don't really know how this skin stuff works. The OPPO kind of looks similar to nexus and I love how nexus looks and feels. My 2 biggest problems with the Nexus is the battery life and no expandable storage. This is why I believe that the OPPO 7 is the next best thing.

Does anybody have any comments on the OPPO find 7? What is the next best thing to the Nexus 5, given that I need to have good battery life and expandable storage.

Thx

They have some pretty unique features like the special charging 0 to 75% in half hour and 2560x1440 resolution, 4k video recording, with aluminum-titanium alloy frame, + some heat dissipation technology+many more. I also like that it looks elegant and refined.

Based on Oppo find 5 reputation, I have no doubt that this will be a great phone in 2014. Only problem is parts if it breaks and cases and stuff, but I can look over that small aspect. Other major problem is that it is not next generation 64bit but so are all other android devices and the OS is not yet optimized for it.

Memory expansion and removable battery which is great if you travel allot. I'd like to see the screen - are these in Canada yet ?

The HTC One M8 is getting good reviews. Specs aren't as good as the OPPO but HTC tends to have their system put together well and every review I've seen suggests the lower specs are not noticable. I personally find HTC Sense UI bloated but that's easy to fix.

LG3 is expected to be announced soon and should be speced similarly to the OPPO.

With the OPPO I find it funny that they are still on Jelly Bean.

And if you really like pure android, you could put it any of the android phones if you want. I like my Nexus 5 but it wasn't even top specs when it was released so if you want the fastest and newest it might not be your best choice.

I agree with you. Presently the nexus is the best value. I love the design and the way the screen blends into the bezel, it's light, good screen size, + efficient and integrates well with Google services.

HTC does not attract me, does not feel and look that comforting. No doubt it has better specs then nexus.

OPPO looks best IMO but need to wait 4 reviews 2 come out for the premium version. You mention good points and the other negative to add is that battery drains in standby, maybe because of gesture tap features but am still observing it.

Best thing about nexus 5 is it's so cheap and who cares is it gets damaged or if you need to upgrade later...it's worth it now.

Oppo 7 looks great, but I think I will go for OnePlus One for two main reasons:
1) it supports more LTE bands (1/3/4/7/17/38/40) than Oppo (B1/4/17). For a traveller like me, this is crucial. Oppo 7A seems to be quite limited in that way.
2) It runs CyanogenMod 11 (based on Android 4.4), which I prefer over standard Android (Oppo runs Android 4.3)
In addition, other specs seem to surpass Oppo 7 too: 64GB memory, faster 801 Snapdragon processor, higher capacity battery etc. Very slim, looks great. All that for $349. Too good to be true.

I've never heard of that company. Lg nexus 5 and oppo are both reliable manufacturers. One plus is unknown to me currently so I would be concerned about that. Looks good otherwise.

OnePlus is founded by Oppo VP who resigned in November last year:

I may let early adopters check it out first, but Oppo 7 doesn't do it for me, because of its LTE limitations. I stopped carrying my computer with me on my trips, so having a top-notch unlocked smartphone with a bigass screen, without Google forcing their custom apps down my throat and using my private data to drum up their business, is a huge advantage in my view.

I reckon only time will tell who they fare against each other. Again, I think Oppo 7a appears to be fantastic, but it's not a globetrotter's phone.
