Paranoia!

If your nose is clean, why worry!
If it's not, just blow it and smear the security camera lens!

I think we need to face the fact that 1984 passed without incident!
Had Orwells prognostication been in place then, 9/11 may very well have been avoided!
All I ask is that they stay out of the bedroom!
Willy doesn't want all and sundry to know the secret of his success! Lol!

learn from history while thinking forward

take some time and study what life was like under stalin... this sort of technological use was fortunately not possible in the 1930s and 40s...

it only takes one charismatic demagog psychotic to turn this thing into a stalinish nightmare on a continental scale.

We have Learned From history.....

.....and the lesson learned is that it is destined to repeat itself!
As we become smarter and more aware, we become more and more innured to life's realities!
Humans, the collective, are out of control as a species on earth and until some kind of global accord is struck, atrocities will be allowed to continue!
The atrrocities to which I refer are not limited strictly to the despotic!
I refer to famine, pestilence, drought, flooding etal!
These are ongoing! Despotic atrocities are a severe, but temporary affront to our sanity in the here and now!
What about future generations?
No doubt, somewhere in the future, another despot, in the guise of the "Great Saviour" will once again surface in the here and now as my grand children will experience!
They will, unfortunately, be none the wiser!

I think that multinational corporations are well on the way to becoming "big brother". The scary thing is that they are doing it with our cooperation; consumers willingly provide personal information in exchange for small discounts or air miles which then allow their purchasing habits to be tracked. Our slow evolution towards a cashless society through the use of debit and credit cards has made it possible for banks to know where we spend our money (Why haven't banks invested in anonymous cashless systems in the way they have debit cards?). I believe that banks already have some obligation to report cash transactions in excess of a certain amount ($10K ?) already. I also recall reports of people in the US travelling with $5-10K being arrested and having the money confiscated because the police suspected it was to be used to purchase narcotics. So, in some sense, using cash can draw unwanted attention.

In some places, electrical utilities report "excessive" consumption to police as potential hydroponic grow operations.

Toll highways which use transponders (407 in Ontario for example) allow some level of monitoring of our travels (even more so in some states where they are common). Modern cellular networks allow tracking of particular cell phones with a moderate level of accuracy and this will improve as newer phones with GPS support are introduced.

Now we find that some government(s) are trying to gather the information from multiple private and public sources together to "protect us". What scares me most is that this is being done in the US, a country which has always proclaimed itself a defender of the rights of the individual. I've been amazed at how willing the US population has been to surrender many of their treasured freedoms (in small increments) in exchange for a greater (if illusory) sense of safety. I expected such behaviour from Canadians (sorry folks, I'm Canadian) but I expected more from Americans.

For those of you who believe that you have nothing to worry about because you have nothing to hide, you may want to consider that belief a little more carefully. The right combination of innocent acts when viewed from a warped perspective can be quite damning.

Nah....I want to live my life in a constant state of paranoia , and when anything goes wrong I want to have a constant supply of people/institutions to blame it on . Futhermore , I want Government to take care of me from cradle to grave providing me with everything I could possibly want .....BUT ....I don't want them to know a damn thing about me .

I realize that this is a sexually orientated board but I never thought so many people could suck and blow at the same time.....lol
