A friend in the Playmates thread suggested that we should open a new thread for Ottawa dance bars for those who may be interested in dance bars in Ottawa, so here you are. I copied and pasted what I had already spent time to prepare from Playmates thread to here plus some added reviews.

Generally speaking Ottawa is quiet and dance bar are no match for those in Montreal or Toronto but we have to make the best of what we have.
Depending on your age:

1 - Laff on York street - no cover charge on Saturdays , inexpensive, mature patrons between 25 to 65. They play the best of retro pop music on Saturdays. You can have good time completely free. Where on Earth is this possible?

2 - House of Targ on Bank street - $12 cover charge mature patrons, large dance floor, mature between 20 to 65.

3 - Le Pop bar on Greber in Gatineau - Very French. Mostly mature patrons, age range 25 to 65, dance after 10 or 11 pm, busy on Saturdays, close to Pigales but much cheaper. $5 cover. Drinks optional. Dance free.

Under 30 if don't mind younger girls

4- Club 27 on York street - rather expensive between $20 to $40 cover charge but drink is optional. Good parties on Fridays and Saturday. Majority are younger crowd but over 40 as well though rare. Dynamic and lively some weekends. check its Instagram.

5 - Sky Lounge on York street. Modest pricing large dance floor. Lot of girls between 19 to 30 but a lot of young guys around 19 to 20 but open t everyone. 10 to $20 cover charge.

6 - Lookout on York street- If you don't have anything against LGBTQ community. Modest pricing. Sometimes young and pretty girls there who like men too. Majority under 30 but older age too though in small minority.

7 - Tropika on Clarence street - if you like ebony women, Saturdays after 11 pm about $10 cover charge All ages likely up to 50. It is up and down. In summer time you can look inside before paying the cover but it can get crowded with dance floor full of people.

8 - Brooklyn on Clarence street also after 11 pm best on Saturdays about $10 cover charge. Usually young between 19 to 25. In summer time you can look inside and see how busy it is before paying the cover usually between $5 to $10.

9 - City at nights - $25 cover, drinks are expensive and younger crowd up to 30 something. Majority are guys and age range mostly under 30 but over too though rare.

10 - Room 104, mostly middle eastern and African men and those women seeking those men. So if you fall into that category could worth a try. Very small stage so can get very crowded and stressful after 11 pm.

Suggestion from Samuel:
11 - The Nature Nocturne dance nights at the Museum of Nature can be a blast:

And if you're into heavier music, Brass Monkey and some of the market watering holes like the Dominion will have great dance floors/mosh pits with a mix of people of all ages.

Suggestion from arius:

12 - Boat Cruise on Ottawa River are fun too, drinks and dance all night while watching the fireworks.

In all of above bars, drinks are optional and dancing is free once you pay the cover charge which in most cases is small fee.

If you know of a good dance bar in the NCR please share it with everyone in this thread. Thanks.

Happy Canada Day. Bless our homeland forever.

I'm sooo out of touch with this scene since a little before covid... and haven't been back since Covid... seems really interesting to investigate again.
