Indications on TSN are that the arbitrator is expected to reduce TO's suspension to 1 or 2 games and that the Eagles will have to release him if they do not plan to play him. While I disagree with the ruling and feel that the Eagles have every right to de-activate him for the remainder of the season (a la Keyshon Johnson and the Bucs) it would be rather ironic if TO goes through the waiver process, whereby the worst team gets first shot at him, and he was calimed by........the 49ers. :D

God, I hope not.

What leverage do owners have anymore?

But if SF does pick him up would he report? Betcha' the prima donna says no. He thinks he can get away with anything.

ok so if Philly is forced to put him on waivers the worst team gets to pick him up, Houston has this right. Tell me dumping him to houston is not revenge enough if this guy rules in TO's favour.

I have been a Packer fan for a long time. I would love to see Terrell end up in Green Bay. Although I think he would like to play for a team that has a shot at the super bowl this year, it would be all too good of a story if he really did end up playing with Favre. Green Bay has been known to be a shitty place to play, because of the weather and all. I think it would be a good fit for him because the media attention wouldn't be as focused as in other markets. This year would be a write off, but could you imagine a Favre/Owens come back for next year and Favre/Owens finally getting a ring. That would be fu to watch.

That would be a nice story, but Owens would disrupt that team as well.. He wants to play in Atlanta........ P.S Phnine, Favre already has a ring........

I don't believe the NFL has waivers do they? My understanding was if T.O. gets cut, he can be signed by any team that wants him, hence rumours of Dallas and Denver.
As well, to clarify, the arbitrator cannot make T.O. a free agent, he can reduce the suspension and declare the Eagles do not have the right to prevent him from being part of the team. That doesn't mean they must play him, rather it means they cannot prevent him from other things like going to practices, training at the Eagles facility, etc. It is in this case that he can really make it a living hell for the Eagles which could push them to cut him.
At least, that's the way I understand this whole ugly situation to be.

Sorry meant to say another ring for Favre. Would be a first for Owens.

If not Green Bay, I would like to see him in Dallas. Him and Bledsoe should be fun to watch. They could make a run for the bowl couldn't they?

If the arbitrator does rule in TO's favour.. this will become a new negotiating toy for the players.

Throw a tantrum, get a short suspension then get cut by the team so you can write your own ticket.

If I was the owner, I would dress him and sit his ass on the bench for every game. Let TO deal with any backlash inside the clubhouse.

In my view Phillie should keep him and not play him. His behaviour is just unacceptable.

I'm just wondering, if the Eagles released Owens this season, would they still have to pay him this seasons' salary? Why would a team pay some guy, that they nolonger want, to stay home if they can release him?

Yes they still have to pay him..........for the four games he was suspended they dont.

Also he has about1.75 million in signing bonus which now the eagles can go after because his contracted stated that if he was for any reason suspended for 2 or more games he would have to pay it back.

Now this is where this will get even more intresting dont think you have heard the end of it for this year.

Yes the eagles can bench them every sunday, and have to pay him, however as a player he has the right to show up at all practices, meetings, film meetings all the behind the scences stuff.

This is where if the eagles truly dont want him in the locker room the will come to some sort of aggrement (possiably) to get rid of this guy once and for all.

In other words T.O will push Andy Reid to cut him now maybe even give back some of the signing bonus so he can move on and play with another team, if thats what he wants

In other words, if the eagles released Owens and he immediatly signs with an other team, he'll be getting 2 salaries since the eagles would still have to pay him. Is that right?

Turns out I was wrong about the NFL and waivers, apparently one does exist.

At the risk of being wrong again, kirmit129, NFL contracts are not guaranteed so I believe if the Eagles cut him and he is NOT claimed on waivers, his contract would be wiped out and if another team was to pick him up after clearing waivers, they would have to negotiate a new contract.
If he is claimed, then I believe the team assumes his existing contract, although the Eagles may still get a salary cap hit.
Again, I could be wrong, but that's teh way I understand it.
