Let's put the seniors in jail, and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the seniors would have access to showers, hobbies,
And walks, they'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental
And medical treatment , wheel chairs etc. And they'd receive money instead of
Paying it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be
Helped instantly ,if they fell, or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be
Ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes, and bring their meals
And snacks to their cell. They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool, and education.
Simple clothing , shoes, slippers, P.J.'s and legal aid would be free, on request.
Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard ,with gardens.
Each senior could have a P.C. A T.V. Radio, and daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors , to hear complaints, and the guards
Would have a code of conduct, that would be strictly adhered to.

The "criminals" would get cold food, be left all alone, and unsupervised.
Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week.
Live in a tiny room , and pay $5000.00 per month and have no hope
Of ever getting out. Justice for all.

Sad but true, I actually read an article a while back about people who commit crimes so they can get all these benefits. Does anybody else remember this article?

Nice try, but I think the reality is otherwise. For example, for 5000 a month seniors can get a lot more than the sob story.

And the bigger disconnect is this right wing fantasy that jail is such a soft place. Talk to someone who lives there. There is absolutely no comparison between jail and a seniors home. The worst seniors home is infinitely better than the best jail.

... even the BEST 'homes' struggle without enough staff.

i used to work in a nursing home and we used to work around the clock tirelessly to make them happy clean and healthy... i dont think its a fair comparison in the least.
the beds are changed and made DAILY not twice a week we do it when they have their morning breakfast!

Yes, jail is rough no doubt about it..but most of the hardship probably because of the inmates bully each other as they always have been outside..Have you ever lived in a nursing home??? I remember somewhere it cost gov't 50k per year per inmate. I wonder how much the gov't pays for each senior at the nursing home??? To be fair, we should pay at least 50k per senior as well but I doubt that's the case. What I know is if you have no money to pay the rent at the homes, the gov't will pay half which is about $800 so they pay about 10k per year of senior..what a fucked up world we live in!

Seniors get free prescriptions and medical care, they receive money from the government as well.
They are allowed to have a TV, radio, computer, X box, Guitar Hero, whatever the hell they want.
If they have money they can buy anything and have it delivered to them, even a blowjob.

Not far off. Both places are institutional, and without the prying eyes of the family or public, occasional brutality occurs. Other than that, the seniors homes do afford their residents daily baths or showers if needed. Chapels, libraries, activities, day trips, and the freedom to come and go as you please. I have had the unfortunate duty of taking charge of my grandfathers care when he checked into one of the nicer places. He was a pensioner and paid way less than 5000.00 per month. He had a private suite with cable TV and meals made to his strict dietary requirements. His laundry was fresh and his health was monitored and his mind and sould were fulfilled in his final years. It was more than I could do for him with a family of my own in another city. I was grateful for that home.

LOL...not me, but someone I know very well has worked with inmates. Jail is not a place you want to be.

Not that I want to be in some seniors homes either...but I have been in one with a relative that is around $2800 per month and is much better than what was described in the original post.
