It is so sad to see Pat Burns so thin. He beat prostate and liver cancer but is now afflicted with lung cancer and has declined treatment. Does anybody know if Pat is a smoker?

I saw him on the news today and didn't recognize him at first.
There is a rink being built and named after him.
Hope he lives to see it open.
During the press conference even Burns himself stated, "I probably won't be around when this facility opens but I hope it serves the community for many years to come".
His prognosis is not good and I think he has accepted that.
I really feel for him and his family as I went through the same kind of thing with my grandmother years ago.
It is amazing how people's outlook changes when they accept their own mortality.
Good luck Pat!

I could not believe that was the same Pat Burns who once coached the Leafs.
I tried very hard to remember what he looked, but I was so shocked by his current look I could not bring the image of a healthy Pat Burns to mind.
I was thinking 'is this some other guy named Pat Burns who is well known in Quebec'. I guess he is not going to beat this one, but it would be nice if he could cut the ribbon to open that rink before he passes, maybe even take the first lap.

Let's hope Pat's journey into the good night is a gentle one but lung cancer is a vicious foe. He is the latest in a long list of Montreal Canadiens to be afflicted with cancer.

Seeing him on the news was heart wrenching, I couldn't believe a former cop, head coach in the NHL and a real tough guy who would never give up on anything, has now finally given up and understandably so, he's a fraction of the man he used to be, he is slowly degenerating, God bless.

I remember meeting Pat at Filmore's the summer before he took over as head coach for the Maple Leafs. I told him that I felt sorry for him as the team he had inherited was a piece of shit, but if anyone could change that team, it would be him. Sure enough he turned the team around very quickly and they became a force to deal with. Very sad to see him this way now.

I suspect his resume is HOF-worthy. I think it would be a noble and appropriate gesture.

And not only that......while we may be leaning with our heartstrings......this guy does not have the longevity to make it in todays HOF.

Too bad....but he does not deserve to be there.....

I once sat next to Pat Burns on a flight, he was so affable that I found it hard to believe that he was once an under-cover cop in a bike gang. He should go into the Hall ASAP.
