Pawn Stars' Chumlee investigated for sexual assault, arrested for gun and drugs

“Pawn Stars” personality Chumlee has been arrested on charges of possessing drugs and a weapon, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told TheWrap on Wednesday.

According to police, a search warrant was issued on the reality TV star (real name: Austin Russell) for an alleged sexual assault.

When the warrant was executed, officers found marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as a weapon.

Russell was booked and remains in custody, according to police.

The sexual assault case remains under investigation.

Austin Lee Russell, 33, was taken into custody when officers serving a search warrant in a sexual assault investigation found methamphetamine, marijuana and at least one gun at his southwest Las Vegas home, police said in a statement.

Russell wasn't booked on a sex-crime allegation. Officer Larry Hadfield, a department spokesman, said that part of the investigation stemmed from a recent complaint by a woman, and it is continuing.

Russell was being held pending an initial court appearance on 19 drug-possession charges and one weapon charge, according to Clark County Detention Center records. His bail was set at $62,000.

It wasn't immediately clear if Russell had a lawyer.

A man who answered the phone at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop on Las Vegas Boulevard said he had no information about the arrest. A follow-up voicemail message was not returned.

A spokesman for A&E Network and the History Channel declined by email to comment.

Honestly, the fact that Chumlee uses recreational drugs and owns a gun does not change my perception of him one bit. I would have assumed as much, and I still liked his character on the show.

Now, his involvement in a sexual assault investigation does surprise me. Of course, the cops aren't saying he's the suspect. Maybe he just has information relating to the investigation. We'll see.

No surprise! My very good friend live in Vegas for 20 years. He knows him for long time personally, and told me in real life, Chumlee is the biggest asshole in the planet. A dumb uneducated unfriendly motherfucker, with no talent for anything except eat tons of junkfood and become high all day. His character is made by the screenplay writer. He is not a good man either.
The only really good and very friendly guy from those Vegas shows is Danny from the Count's Custom . He is the same in the real life, what you see in the show. Down to earth personality, you can talk with him if you meet him, and he has an own style.

Honestly, the fact that Chumlee uses recreational drugs and owns a gun does not change my perception of him one bit. I would have assumed as much, and I still liked his character on the show.

I like the show and the interplay between the main characters, but Chumlee is my least favourite. I've read that the writers have him playing the part of the "loveable lazy buffoon" and he's there to add humour to offset Corey's and Rick's serious demeanour, but I don't find him the least bit funny or interesting. He delivers his lines mechanically and his responses to situations completely predictable, IMHO he'd the poorest actor of the bunch .

Internet info I've read (take it with a grain of salt) indicates he rents a $2M home, has 5-6 cars, 5-6 bikes, a large power boat and a motorhome. Good for him!

I like Mark Hall-Patton (beard of knowledge). He apparently does allot of appearances at the shop (the main characters do not work the shop at all anymore and very rarely make appearances). I've been to Johnny Jimenez's Toy Shack pre-Pawn Stars - it was a tiny little place at the time.

Why? Why even mention this?? I'd much rather hang with a friendly funny fat guy than an obnoxious, contemptuous know-it-all. You, not Rick.

Last point: he hasn't even been charged, let's not hang him just yet. It could be a false allegation, apparently happens all the time with celebrities.

According to Youtube, this is Chumlee's car collection. Being a cable tv star has its benefits, assuming that the video is legit. It's a shame that he's about to lose it all to pay for his lawyers and is now persona non grata on History TV.
