Normally I'm pretty patient with pedestrians, but as I drove around at lunchtime, I found myself having to dodge people who have decided that it's too snow/slushy on the sidewalks so they are going to walk on the road. I'm sorry but I would rather get a little slushy on the sidewalk than play chicken with asshat drivers on a major city street.

The silly part is that from what I can see, the reason they walk on the road is because they are wearing running shoes instead of boots on a day like today.

NEWS FLASH: This is winter in Canada people...get yourselves a decent pair of boots and...get the f**k off the road!!!!! or I will run you over.

Hmmmm, I've never noticed that vien in my neck before.

In the laboratory.
Not only do pedestrians have to contend with ice and slush, but a lot of the new sidewalks are built with a slant. I guess it's supposed to aid the run-off of water but in winter, it's a hazard. You see a lot of old folks struggling along, trying to keep to the high ground and not fall. A fall for some of these old codgers would possibly be fatal. All it sometimes takes is a broken hip.

Sure it's dangerous for pedestrians to walk on the road but hey, a little empathy from motorists would be nice. If it were just a matter of buying a pair of boots, a lot less people would be driving cars.

Hmmm, that would take some of the boredom out of the Kitchener to Woodstock section of the 401.

I'm looking out the window and I see no less than 5 people walking on the street as cars drive around them. I live downtown.

It would help if store owners not only cleaned their sidewalk but the city unclog the drains to clear the water from beside the sidewalkss.

I hate having to cross the street and you have to be an olympic long jumper to get across some of the sidewalks.

So, of course, to get across the sidewalks? Boots. I think many retail outlets carry these newfangled contraptions, nowadays.
;)
Sorry - the streets are for cars, which are congested enough.
